This is an older manner of speaking. You cannot base doctrine on misunderstanding of archaic language.
IF.....IF that was not so sad, it would be laughable.
For 1500 years the church taught and demanded that salivation came the grace of God PLUS WORKS.
In 1565 Martin Luthor said
