Hey! How's it going?

My name is well... neonknight, I guess. I'm a twenty-six year old african who is and has been a christian since birth. Although I'm not sure if my definition would fit yours or vice-versa but as long as we all have faith, that is what matters.
I'm here so that I can hopefully make a few friends and discuss some of the things within the Bible which I haven't been able to reconcile so far. I sometimes feel lost to be frank, it almost seems as if everyone claims to be christian, no offense, but betrays his religious beliefs through his/her actions or thoughts. I'm fairly new to reading the Bible. I can't read or write in my native language and I can't seem to find an Orthodox Christian English Bible anywhere. Hence why I've put it off up until late. But I'm now listening to a recording of it in Amharic and it seems like most of it is contradictory, to say the least. Not mentioning that what is often preached by priests or pastors goes against what is said in the Bible.
I don't know, I'm very confused as of right now. Hopefully I'll be able to get some pointers on how to best dissect the Bible and understand the word of God and its essence.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." (II Timothy 3:16-17)

"We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." (II Peter 1:19-21)

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." (John 14:26)

"But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him." (I John 2:27)

2. The entire Bible, including the Old Testament, is about Jesus.

"Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." (Luke 24:25-27)

"And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures," (Luke 24:44-45)

Before you read the Bible, ask God to teach you by the Holy Spirit what it has to say about Jesus, and he will do just that.

Well, it's going as well as it can be expected. Your concerns about the bible could probably be addressed in the popular Bible Discussion Forum. There is nothing wrong about being fairly new to reading the bible as you are looking at it with a fresh perspective. Allow God to lead you in your bible studies and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and present the material in a way that you can relate to and make sense of. Glad to have you as part of our community. Thanks for the reply and the warm welcome! It makes sense to try to let God into my heart first and approach the Bible without skepticism. I can see how it could be counterproductive for me to read the Bible with some doubt still in me. I'm sorry if I am not as firm in my beliefs as you all are but hopefully I'll get there with my effort and your help. Again, thank you very much for the advice.
