“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Yes, and those of us who are not in his area need to be holding him up in prayer.

I agree with the thoughts on this thread but I do take exception to the title of this thread. The title suggests hate for the LGBT person who is acting in ways we consider to be distasteful. I agree it is distasteful but not surprising from someone who doesn't know Christ. Now, I don't KNOW this person doesn't know Christ but only can assume that is the case. When we as Christians call out a person this way with hatred it fully takes away from our ability to love them. Will our love result in conversion? Only God knows. Does our love mean that we accept their premise? No. But love does mean we treat every person with respect and try to engage in positive conversations rather than finger pointing and derision.

If we just allow the private sector to run their business as they see fit, even if it disagrees or discriminates against a protected class of people then this wouldn't even be an issue. The protected class should only apply when it involves the public sector/property. If someone doesn't want to make a gay or transgender cake, no problem... If someone doesn't want to make a cake for a Christian celebrating their child's baptism, no problem... Capitalism will be the equalizer here.

Interesting that your concern lies with a satanic LGBT rather than with the Christian who's being attacked. This psychotic tranny has been harassing the poor guy for years. Where's your concern for his business? His family? His sanity? He's even getting death threats for not buckling. I really wonder whose side you're on? All you're concerned with are the delicate sensibilities of someone that is actively working towards the destruction of everything that is good, wholesome, beautiful and true.

The reason I worded the headline that way is because it's kinda funny and makes a point. I suppose I could have gone the other direction with it. Maybe this one would make you happier?

right. this individual is way past 'not knowing Christ'

the attack is demonic and spiritual. when was the last time you dealt with and saw converted a practicing pagan or witch or satan worshipper? didn't think so. most christians are prob not equipped to deal with that type of person and the baker needs prayer and to be held up in prayer.

the other one, needs rebuking in Jesus name

Did you actually read my post? When I think about situations in life I try to frame my response in terms of what i see Jesus do in scripture. Reflect on the details of this thread and ask yourself honestly - what would Jesus do in this situation? There is not one single example where Jesus response to people was other than loving. Was he direct sometimes? yes. Was he gentle sometimes? yes. Did he confront sometimes? yes. But, in all of these situations he was loving. The very way in which this discussion is being framed is that this LGBT person is only worth of hate. Christians don't hate the person - the sin, yes, but the person, no. This LGBT individual may well be fully misguided and likely is but when they see Christians responding with animated hate it furthers their belief about Christians. Christianity IS a battle - not against flesh and blood (and this is where the LGBT person would fit) but against the powers of darkness (and these spiritual elements are actively influencing the LGBT person). Jesus let himself be slapped, spit on and have a thorny crown pounded into his skull - all in the name of love. Yes, we need to support this baker and what is happening to the baker is not OK But, the posture that the Christians on this thread have toward an individual who, themselves, is a child of God is distasteful and doesn't smell like Christ.

I love how your LGBT buddy is a "child of God", but Christians helping other Christians don't "smell like Christ."

At the risk of sounding self-righteous, as some have recently accused, I agree. I've had to examine my heart, of late in relation to politics, etc. It is too easy to fall into a disrespectful attitude and forget that Christ taught us to liv

You're casting your pearls, unfortunately. They're going to nitpick and twist what you said, ignoring that you said we should support the baker. For what it's worth, I agree that the "headline" sounds like something the liberal media would print and that it will be near impossible for those without Christ to want to come to Him if they see/hear such hateful attitudes coming from us.

No it does not. It suggests hate only if you have allowed the media to influence you. A whiner is a whiner, and we should call a spade a spade. But when someone harasses another person just to make a point, it is indeed disgusting. And so is sexual perversion. There is no good reason for sexual perverts to be bothering people who refuse to normalize their perversion. The whole world was aware that this baker was harassed about this kind of thing some time back. He should not have to put up with more harassment.

There is no hate involved. If someone kept harassing you, would you consider it hatred to tell that person to cease and desist? The fact of the matter is that those involved in sexual perversion (1) hate themselves (2) hate society, and (3) hate preachers who speak out about sexual perversion. So the hatred is really from the other side.

They know that their lifestyle is unacceptable to the majority of people anywhere in the world, so they flaunt themselves in gay parades. and push politicians to change the laws so that they can promote their LGBTQ agenda. And most of the politicians are so unprincipled that they go along with this nonsense.

There is no Constitutional right for anyone to practice or promote sexual perversion, just as there is no Constitutional right to commit abortion. But the politicians and judges pander to perverts and monsters rather then telling them to stop their shenanigans.

One of my pet peeves is when Christians sit on their thrones, spewing judgement at those who know no better - I don't imagine it draws many to Christ HOWEVER this man is deliberately and directly asking this baker to act against his and our faith. And now suing the poor guy for his convictions. His actions ARE disgusting and he is whining. Whats more...what is he saying about us and our beliefs?

Again you seem to have an inability to actually read my response.

I have absolute compassion for the Baker and hate that he is having to go through this. But I also know that God can and does use all things to His glory. It very well may be that this Baker is facing these challenges to the ultimate glory of God. God will sustain the Baker through these challenges and, I believe, will surround him with full support. This has already been happening with the legal help he is receiving and the victories already seen. I also have compassion for the LGBT person because i can only imagine the sad life that this person has and the hate that drives this person to do what they do.

Let me frame this a bit differently.
Christ was persecuted, beaten, spit on, had thorns beaten into his head and was ultimately nailed to a cross. Did he curse those who were persecuting him? No. He prayed for them.
Stephen was stoned and while dying asked God to forgive his executioners
Paul was jailed multiple times and beaten multiple times. Did he complain about it? No, he used those situations to reach out to his jailers and celebrated his persecution in the name of Christ
John was cast onto the isle of Patmos. He didn't revile those that persecuted him but prayed for them.
I can go on and on with other Christians throughout history who were burned at the stake, sawn in two, beaten, killed in horrible ways all while refusing to give up their profession of faith and also while maintaining a loving posture toward those that hated them.

Now, lets return to this LGBT activist. I ask you.
1. How is your (and others on this thread) posture toward this person exhibiting the love of Christ?
2. How is your (and others on this thread) demeanor toward this person reflecting your desire for their best interest and redemption?
3. How can anyone who reads this thread see the 'salt and light' that is to be associated with a Christians life?
4. How can anyone who reads this thread note the Christian sacrifice on behalf of loving others?

The hardest thing to do is to love an individual or individuals when they so clearly hate you. Nobody has said that the Christian stance is easy. In fact, it is incredibly difficult and possible only through God's grace and strength. It is because of this ability to persevere and love in the face of persecutions that so beautifully illustrates God's love toward us who spit in His face daily with our sin. You can feel free to continue to disparage me and my motives if you like but I trust you understand the points I am making.

By some people's logic, Christ was "just hiding" behind Himself when He chose not to curse those who spat on Him, beat Him, and nailed Him to the cross. Some people will feel that because they believe in Christ, they can behave unChristlike and it's considered "righteous indignation" when the offenders are of a certain type of sin.

I don't buy that you are as full of love as you're letting on. I don't think you're that holy. I don't think anyone is. I suspect that what's really going on is that you have a lack of love. That's why you're unable to support the baker without also giving support to the attacker. Because what you're really saying is that you love everyone. And people that say they love everyone actually love no one. If your love doesn't allow you to distinguish amongst recipients, then what's the point?

For me, I will support the baker. The baker has more value more that the disgusting LGBT attacker. If I only had $5 and that $5 could buy either eternal happiness for the LGBT or a hamburger for the baker, then I would gladly buy the baker a burger. If you can't figure out friend versus enemy, then your friendship is worthless at best.

Sadly that is true
