Excellent! It's wonderful when you discover gems like that for yourself. It's a veiled prophecy of Jesus. Keep looking... there are many more!

Jesus is found throughout the Old Testament.

Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. (Rev 1:7)

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. The Bible teach us that everything is about Jesus, so He is everywhere in the OT. The question is how deep are you prepared to go?

A time ago, people got upset if you told them to study the Hebrew, but today it is the norm and more acceptable because many people came to realize that the OT is actually about Jesus.

Take the Hebrew meaning of the names in Genesis 5 for instance:

ADAM– “man” / “mankind” (Root word “Adamah” which means “earth”

SET – “Appointed” / “Appointed another seed”

ENOSH – “Mortal” / “Being Mortal” from the Hebrew Root word “Anash”

KENAN – “Sorrow”

MAHALALEL – Consists of two Hebrew words:“Mahalal” which means “Blessed’ / “Praised” and “EL” which means God. The name thus means: “Blessed/Praised of YHVH”

YERED – “Shall Descend” / “Shall come down”

CHANOCH (ENOCH) – means “teaching” “To teach/instruct people”

MATUSHELACH – consists of two Hebrew words:

Met – which means “death”

Shelach – which means “Shall bring forth” Put them together and it reads “Death shall bring forth”

LAMECH–“Despairing” / “Those in despair”

NOACH– “Comfort” / “Rest”

Together: “Man/Mankind appointed mortal sorrow. The blessed/praised of YHVH shall descend/come down and teach/instruct people that His death shall bring, those in despair, comfort/rest.

I know it is difficult to see the connection but when Jesus told them to buy a sword and Peter said they had two, Jesus said it is enough and they go forth and Jesus is arrested, and Peter uses the sword and is rebuked and then you wonder why Jesus told them to get a sword, I think it was to fulfil this verse from Zech 13:7. ....(maybe )

To get a true picture of what the Lord is telling us in scripture, it is wonderful to study it as being from the same God in the new and old testament, and see how the same truths are given in both.

As an example, the book of Matthew can be studied by referring to all the old testament the very Jewish Matthew referred to in his gospel. The sermon on the mount opens up through the old testament. Matthew was speaking to hundreds of Jews who learned old testament through the synagogue, not by reading it. The synagogue studied traditions of Jews more than scripture. Christ was the son of God, true to the Father and said he changed absolutely nothing of the Father. By keeping in mind these things, that gospel becomes straight from the Lord.

Many struggles with the question of what Christ meant by making things new: Did Christ cancel what was old, did Christ explain it, did Christ reconcile all.

Christ said of what the old testament said about the law: you have been told, but I tell you. Some say Christ cancelled what had been told, and gave a new law. Others say Christ explained and completed what was. Your post points out what Christ himself pointed out, that Christ explained the old testament.

Correct, if one want to know and understand the NT, one need to know and UNDERSTAND the OT.
