Hi Naomi123. I hope that you read all 33 scripture verses that I posted for throughfaith. If that does not convince you that God chooses, there is nothing that I can do.
Are you implying that God chooses who will believe? or what, specifically?

1 Cor 1:21 tells us that God is pleased to save those who believe. That is clearly a choice on His part.

As to your 33 verses, could you choose the single very best verse that very plainly and clearly indicates that God chooses who will believe.

This was the O.P.-
There are so many different topics and ideas and opinions about so many things on this forum. What if someone just wants to get Born Again? Is that complicated and controversial also? Is the on-ramp to salvation hard to find and navigate? What could we say to a lost person just coming in here seeking Jesus?

Let's make at least one thread that is devoid of bickering and arguing and is seeker friendly. Just state how simple it is to come to Jesus and why (don't use it as an opportunity to criticize the previous poster.)

My thought and verse(s) on being/getting Born Again:___________________________

"How to be born again?" Is such an authentic question
With the Billy Graham "show" and the like - the incantations of " Sinners Prayer" alter calls- Emotions run high
And though a lot of the respondents are sincere in thr moment, I cant help but ask, where is the fruit of such events?
We do not choose the time of our physical birth. And I do not believe we choose the time of our spiritual birth.
It is God the father, who moves to us out of mercy, and our authentic calling out to him in our acceptance of our personal utter depravity,
Accepted powerlessness invites
HIS power but the work is done by the Holy Spirit ( Spirit of Truth) revealing to us our need. That in my perception is
Being born again - liberty through complete surrender

John 1: 12-13 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the children of God, even (that is) to them that beliieve on His name; Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, BUT OF GOD.

Amen

As Moses lifted the serpent. so too must the son of man be raised that all who believe (true saving faith) 9n him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I think paul said it well

Eph 2
And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the [a]course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

It is By Grace through faith alone in the work of Christ. Who made us alive. We could not make ourself alive

in this life I know with certainty that the road to God is a solitary one.....take a look at the state of the world.....look at what horrible things take place...worse than sodom and Gomorrah....
read Isaiah.....read all the prophets...the nature of man has not changed.......that’s why I love when God says remember oh man that thou art dust and to dust thou shalt return".........nobody can rise up against God..none can argue against His wisdom....impossible....

34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Question. According to the law. Could anyone be saved by being obedient to the law (obeying Gods commands?
