Try to exclude the possibility of suffering which the order of nature and the existence of free-wills involve, and you find that you have excluded life itself.
C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain

It is often out of suffering or pain that makes the victory more savoring. Savoring defined in psychology means to fully feel, enjoy, and extend our positive experiences. To know something is good, we must have something to compare it to.

John 16:33
New International Version

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
We will have trouble in this world as sin, decay, and death remind us of our imperfections and mortality. True inner peace comes from the soul.
In me (Jesus) you may have peace.

Romans 5:3-5
New Living Translation

3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

Pain, suffering, and trials produce endurance. Endurance to withstand future trials that may come our way as we walk as a Christian.

Strength of character or 1382 dokimḗ (a feminine noun derived from 1384 /dókimos) – proof of genuineness ("approval, through testing"), a brand of what is "tested and true."
We are as if forged from fire. From brittle to strong. A character that will not bend, crack or break. The character of someone like Jesus, Deborah, or Paul.

This character or times of testing strengthens our understanding of salvation, our need for salvation, and our longing desire for salvation.

It is out of this truth and desire we repeat the cycle to endure on this planet. We endure so that we may encourage and share the hope we have with others.

Our hope is in Jesus Christ. The hope of salvation. This is the victory we share in Christ. We can savor the victory today out of faith and trust in the Words of Jesus, despite our trials and tribulations. We fully begin to feel and enjoy our time to serve God and others. We begin to extend our positive experiences, inner peace, and wisdom towards those who are without.
