If an atheist walked up to you, what would you point to as the BEST EVIDENCE that the Bible is true?

For me I would immediately go to PROPHECY, not the ones about Jesus' birth etc. as atheists usually just say they have been written later to make it fit.

I go to the book of DANIEL.

BOOK OF DANIEL predicted the Babylonian, Medo-Persian, Greek and Roman Empires, Antiochus Epiphanes, crucifixion of Jesus and destruction of the temple. NOW THAT is some ACCURATE prophecy and only an absolute IGNORAMUS would discount such accuracy as just "coincidence" or "luck"!

What say ye? fellow Christians.

In the ancient world the peoples of earth worshipped the sun, moon & stars as gods. They speculated about their names and dwelling places. This is well known due to the variety of ancient writings and archaeology we have. There was only one God of the ancients who told his followers that the sun & moon were made for the purpose of counting days, months & years and to provide light on the earth. They were functional, natural objects. He told his followers not to worship nature or constructed things like statues because it was a worthless pursuit. That teaching is recorded in the Biblical collection of books.

There must have been some understanding of reality in those books penned by the Hebrews which surpassed the traditions
& beliefs of the other developing cultures of mankind.

Have a read of 1 Corinthians 2. An atheist cannot understand the things of God. That person needs to be born again to understand spiritual things. To find out if the Bible is true, obedience to what Jesus said is required, namely to count the cost, take up your cross, and crucify the flesh. Once that is accomplished your sins are washed away and then the new birth can take place.

The primary purpose of the Bible is to show the way to the Father. The Bible won’t do you any good unless you obey God’s messiah, Jesus, who is the only way to the Father.

The best proof that the Bible is true occurs when the Spirit of the Living God comes to dwell in you. All doubt is dispelled when this occurs, the new birth. When one has the Spirit of God, then one can understand the things of God.

For a nice explanation of the Bible’s purpose, check out this video by Brother Kel. It’s important to keep in mind what the Bible can and cannot do.

only an absolute IGNORAMUS would discount such accuracy . . .

Certain politicians of late have been using demeaning labels like "deplorable"
"coward" and "tumor" to label folk who disagree with their ideology. No
doubt those same politicians would applaud your use of "ignoramus" and
count you as an intelligent observer.

However, it would be nice if you kept a civil tongue in your head while on a
Christian forum as a consideration for our beliefs and practices, and our
sensitivities.

They will say that the book of Daniel was written after these events as well. Which they do. Even some textual critics try to say that. We know better but there are plenty of them that try to prove it with their endless textual criticism theories of post Babylonian exciles.

I never try to prove anything to atheists. I just preach the Gospel with the Word of God and let the Holy Spirit do what only He can do with that supernatural power of the Word of God.

Now when I was in elementary school somewhere between 3rd to 6th grade, I cannot remember exactly, my brother told me about evolution and dinosaurs and how there could not be a God. I asked my dad about it and he told me that a blade of grass was so complex under the electron microscope that to say that there was no designer was like looking at the Dallas Skyline and saying it had no designers. That made sense to me and I decided the logical thing was to believe in God and that my brother was an idiot. :)

I was not born again until I was 18 and heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and repented of my sins and believed in faith that because of the blood of Christ I was forgiven and born again. However my dad's little grass blade illustration helped me to believe that there was a God. Will that work for grown up atheists? I don't know. Maybe. I have shared it with people through the years but I don't know that anyone has decided to believe in God as a result.

I have a revelation of the importance of preaching the Gospel from the Word of God empowered by the Holy Spirit as the method God has chosen to save them that believe and I will not attempt any other method as I have no confidence that it will work.

The Gospels, and the resurrection of Jesus. Without the resurrection Christianity would never have ignited. It would have been a cult religion that spoke of a prophet that performed miracles that was then murdered. His apostles would have been too grief stricken to have spread the news and Paul would never have had his revelation and would not have spread the word to the gentiles.

1 Corinthians 1:18
18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

What does this mean exactly? To believe that someone died for the sins of the world, rose from the dead three days later, ascended to heaven, so that all who believe may pass from death into eternal life, takes a miracle.

For example, if I told you that I saw someone die from crucifixion, be dead for three days, then come back to life would you believe me? You would probably call me crazy, but we believe the Bible. We are not ignorant or stupid, this faith is supernatural evidence of Christ.

Why did the disciples risk total ostracization, defamation, and martyrdom to spread the gospel to people? Because the gospel is true and they used gifts of the Holy Spirit to prove the faith to people. This is how Christianity caught on like wildfire.

The Jews! There is no other race that has stayed intact without a country, unless it is the gypsies. Their history is incredible. They are so blessed that even though they are a minority race they are a major recipients of honors like 22 percent of the Novel Prizes although they are only 0.2 percent of the world's population.

The blood of the eye witness disciples who maintained their testimony unto horrific death. And the historical record that witnesses their martyrdom.

You are right! It seems to me that some folks just REFUSE to believe, basically the system is: If its fulfilled prophecy it MUST OF been written afterwards. OR its all a coincidence.

Its one of them ones.

God created the Jewish race out of a pagan believing man. Abraham made idols of pagan gods.
God even honored a pagan ritual to be a covenant agreement between himself and Abraham.
God will meet anyone where they are but then by his love, grace ,and mercy will not leave you there.
The word of God alone is sure and everlasting.
I have said it I shall do it says the Lord.

True, the testimony of the early believers...would you suffer persecution and die an horrific death for a lie?

Many of the Bible's historical facts can be proven true, but it's supernatural
elements are another story. I mean, I've never even seen a ghost let alone
an angel or a demon.

The Bible says there's a heaven and it also says there's a hell. I've never
seen, or been to, either of those places nor have I met anyone who has.

The Bible says people exist beyond death, i.e. an afterlife. Well; I've never
been dead myself nor do I know anyone who's come back from total death
to describe what they saw in the afterlife. Near-deaths don't count; nor do
clinical deaths. I'm talking about someone like Jesus' friend Lazarus who was
so dead that he began to smell.

Early writings by Josephus, Pliny, and Tacitus attest to the existence of one
Jesus Christ, but none of those writings are useful for verifying that the
things he taught are reliable. I mean; Jesus said he came down from heaven
and that he was sent here by God. Where's the proof of that statement?

Has anyone yet verified even a single one of Jesus' miracles?

I have a great deal of respect for agnostics because many are critical
thinkers rather than naïve sheep. The scientific mind is very reluctant to
accept things as true for which there is no empirical evidence. Christians
typically believe from the heart rather than from the head. That kind of
"intuitive" thinking and believing is unacceptable to the scientific mind;
it's too spurious to be taken seriously.

Many of the Christians that I encounter on the internet desperately insist
that their beliefs are reasonable. That's a mistake because Christianity
is not supposed to be reasonable; no, quite the opposite: it's supposed to be
indefensible, viz: thoroughly unreasonable and nigh unto impossible for a
rational mind to accept.
