No longer a Mister, Hasbro has decided to make the potato head toy gender-neutral. Now the name will just be "Potato Head". Another company falls to "wokeness". sigh.
To me, however, they will always be Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head.
I wonder if the children's movie, Toy Story, will be banned now that the "Mr." has been dropped off the potato?

before opening this thread, after just reading the title, that was my first thought too.

just thinking along these lines and the next thing that came to mind is:
I wonder if the band Mr. Mister will start being referenced differently when radio stations play their old music

I honestly think they just don't like masculinity in general.

Actually, it is just the Toy Line that has been renamed. On the Boxes themselves it still says Mr. or Mrs. at the bottom of the Box.

Not really a big deal, just liberal jarbish run amok

They do sell them individually. Which is why I thought it was strange that they're so gung-ho about changing the name. Once they're stripped of all their accessories, they just look like a plastic potato, so kids can pretend they're male or female or genderless. It's more the principle of the thing. It's sad that "Mister" or "Missus" is considered offensive and cancel culture is slowly removing it from our language. How much longer before we're only allowed to call each other "comrade"?

Mr ans Mrs Potato Head aren't good examples against transgender. I believe that their parts are interchangeable.

Since this thread started, I have been reminiscing on my childhood with the Potato People.
My first Mr. Potatoe Head came in an actual "bucket of parts" (as opposed to todays models that my kids have which came tied in a box- since you don't need a bucket to store parts seeing as how parts are stored inside the potato).
I knew that this was my MR. Potato Head...... (as in the man one)
Well, as a little girl I was delighted when I got a MRS. Potato Head! (Not sure where she came from, if she was new or used and passed onto me or what, but she had NOOO bucket to store her parts in) I always kept her dressed and knew that this was MRS.
Well, Mr. and Mrs. were always dressed accordingly UNTIL one day a friend was over and it was time to clean up. I didn't realize until later (might've been another day) that the potato people were stripped of EVERYTHING! My friend couldn't get all the extra parts (purses, shoes, hats etc) to fit in their potato butts, so she threw EVERYTHING into the bucket ( I of course knew that not everything would fit inside, therefore one set of eyes, ears and mouth stayed on them and they rested on their shoes with hair and hats on...... everything else would then fit inside)
How was I going to know which potatoe was Mr. and which was Mrs.?
It was then I realized that there were some parts the potato people don't have.
That was okay, life would go on. It just ment that moving forward Mr. would be whichever one was dressed in Mr. wear, and MRS. would be whichever one was dressed in her stuff, and everything would fit neatly in the bucket for storage (no more knocking potatos off the shelf  )
I must've been 7 or 8..................
NEVER in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine growing up and this actually being an issue.

oh well its just ONE person making a big cry about something.
You already know its mr or mrs and the children know.

Nobody calls me Mrs as Im not married and they dont call me miss, Id rather be called by my first name or aunty, or cousin or sister. Maybe its just someone in hasbro making a big stink about not being married?

Some people are just weird. I dont play with my potatoes I just eat em.

I had rag dolls as my folks couldnt afford to give me the real cabbage patch kids. But then I remember something called garbage pail kids, they were like these collector cards with stickers and they were like the abandoned unwanted kids you could collect, and I do remember adults being extremely offended by them.
