Never Help Your Neighbor...

Ever hear the saying "nice guys finish last"? Seems true in this situation. Radical leftist columnist Virginia Heffernan seems to think Trump supporters are a "blight" on the earth and no different than Hezbollah. The crime? One of them plowed out her driveway. Read the article and decide whether you think her hate is demonic, because I sure do.

It reads like political satire. It would be funny if it weren't serious. There's some over-the-top unhinged rhetoric, but all that happened is someone helped their neighbor indiscriminately of their political affiliation. The writer just seems really furious over a good deed.

Looks like the Bible was right when it said that helping your enemy is like pouring hot coals on their head.

Interesting read, but the writer reads far more into this than it really is. I understand the point he makes in that a plowed driveway doesn't necessarily make them a good person... but it also doesn't make them a bad person either. I get the vibe that he sort of already judged them as not being good based on their support for Trump. The act of charity by his neighbors was an attack on his prejudice of Trump supporters. The only way to reconcile the charity of his neighbors with his prejudice view of Trump supporters is to overanalyze the act of charity itself and compare it to how Nazis were "polite" to some people.

At the end, it does sound like he is willing to perhaps accept the charity as extending an olive branch... but the irony is that he comes across like HE'S the one extending an olive branch when he wasn't the one who did the charity. Kind of odd, but at least pleased to hear he is down to try to make amends.

Just help your neighbour. I dont care what political party or person you vote for. You could support jabba the hut, it doenst matter to me. If you stuck inside your house and I saw it needs plowing, and I had a plow, Id just do it. It wouldnt occur to me to ask who you support.
