Was it not you who declared you were not at war with calvinism, but just replying when it was brought up? When I asked why you keep bringing g it up?

Most time calvinism comes up, it is you who bring it up, just look at all the anti calvin threads you have opened.

can you be honest for once? And own up to what you are doing?
Oh wait,

you Denied it..

Why would i bring it up ,if i didn't see Calvinistic theology on here ? I've better things to do . On another Forum i had threads mainly on Catholics and cults .
lets see. You have opened how many anti calvin threads since you have been here? Do I need to go count them? Or will you finally humble yourself and admit. Your at war with calvin, even though it has been proven countless times you do not even fully understand what they teach.

and now any other one?

wow

Hi throughfaith,

Would you not agree that if you want to learn about a differing view you would seek the view from those who believe it? It would be the honest thing to do - because the same guy who provided the video you posted also has a video called '' Calvinism is Idolatry'' . So is here giving an accurate presentation?

Here's someone who is reformed giving a simple explanation: (it doesn't matter if you agree or not but at least you will be able to make an informed answer not just parroting what someone else has said).

Yes I've followed John Piper , washer , Mcarthur, White , Sproul, Baucham, ect . I agree that you need to hear from the horses mouth . But ! You have to realise that those within any system are not going to be objective. You need to compare yourself ultimately. It does take listening to the critics and objections so that your not just in a echo chamber . You won't hear anything but recommendation for the tulip by John Piper who is captivated by it . So is this objective? Can only calvinists explain Calvinism? What if its true that Calvinism is Idolatry? What if its true that the system is false? Should we not challenge and should not our beliefs stand scrutiny?

Would you say the same about Catholics ? Jehovah's_Witnesses? Should we take their word for it only? Yes we need to check what they believe against what people say about them , but we have to realise we will only see what they believe is true and good about what they believe.

Yes I would go to their sources and I find out what it is they actually say themselves .. that's the only honest thing to do.

Again, the point of my post flew right over your head.

Are you not assuming that i haven't already heard it from calvinists . This i believe IS what Calvinism actually is . I've checked Calvinsm with the bible and have found what those say negatively about it , are correct after all . If only I'd listened before I got close to it . You cannot believe the bible and Calvinism at the same time.

But you would have full understanding that they will only present the ' positive ' side. All systems teach that " its the truth " .They are captivated by it .

Please re read the post . ' What is Calvinism ' . Its not ' What 'Calvinism teaches / believes ' .
So that point flew over your head .

What if its true that Calvinism is Idolatry?
In a sense it is idolatry since it elevates the doctrines of men above the Word of God. There is no question that TULIP is a false gospel -- "another gospel". But you will never convince a Calvinist to abandon that gospel.

When the Reformers made Sola Scriptura the foundation of their beliefs, they failed to reject all ideas derived from men. Thus they arrived at the false notion that God actually elects some for salvation and others for damnation. This is clearly stated in the Westminster Confession.

The Bible is quite clear that divine election applies to those who are already saved, and that these elect children of God are predestined to be perfected into the image of Christ. This will happen at the Resurrection/Rapture.

I have attempted numerous times to explain this to certain people. They claim to be masters of knowing what others believe when they get their info from other people, and not the source itself

then wonder why everytime they attack something they get it wrong. And only prove they have no understanding of what they are trying to attack

I try to recognise my presuppositions as i go and let go of them. I will have bias ,we all do . I don't hold to a rigid systematic however. Although Calvinism isn't monolithic it is easy to critique what with its confessions and tradition. It should be a huge red flag given the name of the system. This point alone sets it apart from any other way to approach the bible.

I can only say to you politely that since those sources are easy to critique, then critique them. But I haven't seen much evidence of this from you I'm afraid.

Others have done this and its great to engage, but in the end we recognize we are still brothers and sisters in Christ even though we have our differences. Greater men and women than you or I have debated this for centuries now. And it will go on till our Saviour returns.

Anyhow been good chatting with you.

The debate rages on ,yes . From my perspective i see the freedom it has brought to a brother / sister when they have come out from under Calvinism. This is my heart for wanting to expose the error of it . I'm happy to engage from the scriptures each point that is brought up by those that watch the clip . And any other issues relating to all 5 points that the system promotes .

Definitely not Ryan Reeves, he would never say Calvinists aren't Christian. That's too far. They don't deny the deity of Jesus
With the problems with Calvinism, it's not honest or fair to say they aren't even Christian.
Name one theological position that doesn't have some error.
