I stopped watching what the networks and cable called news years ago.
Just watched my local station's local news.
Well, last night their news cast was interrupted by some yoyo standing at a podium answering softball questions.
Hope this is not the new norm.

I just go to realclearpolitics everyday. Everybody spins, so it makes the most sense to see all the tops going at the same time.

Take a vacation and stay away from all news sources. Go fishing, or just sit on the bank and enjoy the view.

Hope this is not the new norm.
No it is not the new norm if you are prepared to stick with reliable conservative news sources. Here is an example from The Western Journal:
Pro-Life Leaders Condemn Biden's 'Horrific' Abortion Agenda on Anniversary of Roe v. Wade
https://www.westernjournal.com/pro-life-leaders-condemn-devout-catholic-biden-vow-codify-roe-v-wade/

Check out the Epoch Times and at least another dozen news sources, particularly The Gateway Pundit, which does not pull any punches.

News? You want news? Ok here goes

From the New York Times:

Trump and Justice Dept. Lawyer Said to Have Plotted to Oust Acting Attorney General

Trying to find another avenue to push his baseless election claims, Donald Trump considered installing a loyalist.

  • Updated Jan. 23, 2021, 12:01 a.m. ET
WASHINGTON — The Justice Department’s top leaders listened in stunned silence this month: One of their peers, they were told, had devised a plan with President Donald J. Trump to oust Jeffrey A. Rosen as acting attorney general and wield the department’s power to force Georgia state lawmakers to overturn its presidential election results.

The unassuming lawyer who worked on the plan, Jeffrey Clark, had been devising ways to cast doubt on the election results and to bolster Mr. Trump’s continuing legal battles and the pressure on Georgia politicians. Because Mr. Rosen had refused the president’s entreaties to carry out those plans, Mr. Trump was about to decide whether to fire Mr. Rosen and replace him with Mr. Clark.

The department officials, convened on a conference call, then asked each other: What will you do if Mr. Rosen is dismissed?
The answer was unanimous. They would resign.

One has to be selective now. You'll actually find more truth from RT News than you will from the majority of mainline Western news outlets.
And it may get worse soon.

I have switched to watching YouTube podcasters and channels, longform discussions and debates on politics and controversial topics. These are who I follow:

Tim Pool (centrist-left leaning independent journalist. His guests are relevant to the current political and cultural war. And there is a great community in his chat videos, which people can express their disagreements and agreements with what Tim is saying. It's good discourse. Lots of centrists and right-leaning individuals watch him)

Steven Cowder for comedic political commentary. He is upfront about his bias and being a conservative and willing on tackling controversial topics

Ben Shapiro another one similar to Crowder, but Ben is comedic in his own way lol

Jordan Peterson podcast because, well, because its Jordan Peterson

Dave Rubin another political commentary from a classical liberal, somewhat Libertarian standpoint. Often has interesting guests.

Joe Rogan when he has interesting guests

This eighteen year old is very brave, mature and articulate.

It makes me think of all the damage former President Trump has caused, right down to individual family members being radicalized and turning on their families like we see in other cultures.

“If you turn me in, you’re a traitor, and you know what happens to traitors … traitors get shot,” Reffitt said to his son and daughter, according to a statement from his wife.

Upon his arrest on Saturday, Reffitt was charged with obstruction of justice for the threats he made against his family members. He was also charged with unlawful entry into the Capitol Building.

This is part of Trump's legacy, it is tragic.

There is a new News Show called NewsNation on WGNHD. I have watched it several times, and, thus far, the Anchors of the Shows DO NOT pontificate, give their opinions, or try and spin one way or the other.

They just show various Interviews with various people (both Dem and Repub) and let them have their say. After that, the Anchors DO NOT agree or disagree or add to or take from. They leave it up to the viewer to accept what the people say or to disagree with what the people say.

That is as fair as I have found News presented for a long, long time.

Looks like you won't be finding it at Fox.

From the Daily Beastie and Yahoo news:

Fox News Launches ‘Purge’ to ‘Get Rid of Real Journalists,’ Insiders Say

Fox laid off at least 16 staffers, including Chris Stirewalt, who defended the election-night call that pissed off Trump. Insiders say the firings are part of an ideological purge.

Fox News on Tuesday fired the political editor who was tasked with defending the network’s election night decisions that especially angered President Donald Trump and his allies.

Politics editor Chris Stirewalt’s exit from the network coincided with the sacking of at least 16 digital editorial staffers, including senior editors. People familiar with the situation said the layoffs—a “blood bath,” as multiple Fox News insiders described it—were perpetrated by Porter Berry, the Sean Hannity crony now in charge of remaking Fox’s digital properties in the image of its right-wing opinion programming.

In addition to Stirewalt—the Fox News “nerd” who became the face of the network’s election-night projection for Joe Biden to win Arizona, which angered much of the network’s MAGA viewership and led to the rise of an even more obsequious, pro-Trump alternative in Newsmax—sources confirmed that long-time digital editors and reporters, some of whom had been with Fox for a decade or more, were among those laid off. (Additionally, on Monday morning, Fox News senior vice president and D.C. managing editor Bill Sammon, who is in his early 60s, announced he is “retiring at the end of the month.”)

Officially, the network claimed the layoffs are merely part of a “restructuring” initiative. “As we conclude the 2020 election cycle, Fox News Digital has realigned its business and reporting structure to meet the demands of this new era,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “We are confident these changes will ensure the platform continues to deliver breakthrough reporting and insightful analysis surrounding major issues, both stateside and abroad.”

But a dozen current and recently departed Fox News employees who spoke with The Daily Beast all said the “purge”—as a few characterized it—was part of the network’s larger effort to pivot its website from straight-news reporting to right-wing opinion content in the mold of Fox’s primetime programming.

“There is a concerted effort to get rid of real journalists,” said one recently departed Fox staffer. “They laid capable people off who were actual journalists and not blind followers.”
