The vaccine is not the mark of the beast, but covid-19 had been a fun social experiment. Turns out the general public will let you do just about anything including confine them to their home for most of the year, close their churches, mandate masks, impose physical distance guidelines, and make it legal to deny people the right to enter an establishment based off of their rejection of wearing a mask.

They probably feel brave enough to mandate the vaccine.

I predict the USA will soon have a new class of bottom-caste people known as the deplorables who refused to take a vaccine. The anti-vaxxers, the unclean ones portrayed as wild and irrational, and many of them will be Trump supporters.

The media has already spent a good amount of time dehumanizing Trump supporters as just a "basket of deplorables" making it more palpable to attack and deny service to them with little or no media interest for the past four years.

Interesting.

Still doesn't negate how inconsistent they are to fear Covid while acknowledging how mild their symptoms were. 🤷
I am not getting your logic. If the group is only a few hundred why would you expect them to have their fears relieved from hearing about the experiences of other members in a group that small. We already know that most people who get infected will recover. That does not mean we should not take precautions because there are a lot of people who get seriously ill, stay sick for months, and die.
2% is a lot of people and NON risk takers consider it a large enough chance to do whatever they can to not be part of that number.

A risk taker might think that 2% chance of fall from a cliff is worth climbing without a rope. A NON risk taker will avoid the cliff.

My point is, why would they still be afraid when they've already gone through it? When they're basically telling everyone it was like a bad cold?

Oh, the site is bigger than a few hundred. It was the particular thread that had a few hundred sharing symptoms.

I get not everyone makes it through and people die. But not a single person who has reported going through it on that thread has said that someone died. Out of a couple hundred, stretched out across the US, wouldn't the odds be that one of them lost somebody to this virus?

I talked to a 70-ish something man last year and he told me he had Covid. Said it sucked, like a bad chest cold.

My neighbors (good friends) currently have it. They're older but they're ok. Say it's like having a cold.🤷

I suspect my 16-year-old may have it, which I would assume means we all have it. Have had some dizziness, headaches, and whatnot. I'm not getting any younger....been using my inhaler more. But other than that? It's like a cold. Though to be fair, we haven't been tested so maybe it IS just a weird cold (with dry heaves).

I guess what I'm trying to say is the only fear from it seems to be coming from the media. Everyone else I talk to, people I know personally, aren't having any horrible issues. And there's no sense in being afraid of something you've already been through and hardly suffered from.

I don't understand why someone who have recovered would be concerned. They are now immune.
Now, we will have to wait and see if they get it again next year, are their antibodies and tcell response going to give them long term immunities or will they be vulnerable again after these antibodies fade, like the flu.

It is interesting that I have the exact opposite testimony concerning friends I have across the country. Of the dozen or so people I know that have gotten sick they have reported the worse sickness they have ever had. One was in ICU at deaths door. Several were sick for many weeks and needed round the clock prayer to pull through. These are all real life friends (not internet people I don't know face to face) they are all reporting a harsh illness. One of my friends I have been talking to on the phone these last two weeks was sick for 6 weeks and now, almost 3 months later still does not have taste and smell back and gets winded just talking too much. She has visited the doctor to see if she has permanent lung damage and he has told her she will be fine but she is not so sure an has a lot of anxiety because of lack of breath. I only know of one family that said they have gotten it and it was mild. I am sure that others probably have but I have not heard about it. I seem to mostly hear from those that got seriously ill.

So two people can have different sets of data to draw from. If I were to use my own acquaintances as my survey data I might draw such a conclusion that most people are going to get severely ill but I would be wrong.

My friend that is still waiting for taste and smell is thinking seriously about getting the vaccine because they are concerned of having a round two at a later time.

Our personal experiences are interesting, for sure.

Now that your friend had it, shouldn't she be immune? If so, she wouldn't need the vaccine, right?

It's a horrible feeling not being able to breathe right. ☹️

That is her dilema. Is her immunity only short term? No one has the answer yet. We will know in a year or two. Same with the vaccine. There are hopeful signs that the vaccine might be long term based on tcell and bcell response but we can't be scientifically conclusive for another year or more. Should she take the vaccine because it will give her a better or more robust level of immunity that might be long term? She is still figuring it all out.

How about the elderly that had to die alone and the nurses and PSWs that have walked off the job because of the lack of support.

Viruses can be contained with a six simple measures and if people would have just followed some simple precautions ....

and if you had a president who actually acted like a president and lead the country rather than promote conspiracies and calling it a hoax
the richest country in the world would not be in the shape it is in and maybe your friend's mother would not have died.

Pandemics have collateral damage.... yet this could have been mitigated too.
What are those simple measures? MY solution to covid is: OPEN EVERYTHING. Lets not destroy small business cause of a flu!

Many on the front line don't want to take the vaccine because they are "unsure of long term affects".

https://www.yahoo.com/news/vaccine-rollout-hits-snag-health-153322509.html

"I don’t think anyone wants to be a guinea pig,” said Dr. Stephen Noble, a 42-year-old cardiothoracic surgeon in Portland, Oregon, who is postponing getting vaccinated. “At the end of the day, as a man of science, I just want to see what the data show. And give me the full data.”

Basically what the guy is saying is he doesn't trust the panel of independent reviewers, The FDA, the UK, the EU that have approved the vaccine.

Do you think there are no ramifications for not trying to control the spread of the virus.

That you liken it to a "seasonal flu" however does tell me you are not well informed.

The ramifications would be: More people would die. BUT also: more people would eventually become immune to it and we could move past this quicker. The folks who die from covid have bad immune systems to begin with, their immune systems are somehow compromised unfortunately. Its usually due to lack of nutrition, vitamins, too much sitting inside, some underlying illness or condition or a pre-existing virus/bacteria

Really? That is not what I have heard, regarding repeat bouts of COVID, which some have said cause irreparable organ damage.

But what do I know? There is so much conflicting info and misinformation...

Yep we watched "Greenland"(good movie) it's about the same as this where the Gov. has a safe place for themselves and those they need and they go there and leave the rest of the earth to perish.
