The Gift Of Speaking In Other Tongues Is A Gift, Alive And Well Today

I Asked And Received The Gift 43 Years Ago While Praying In My Room, Same Today

The Baptist Denomination Falsely Teaches, That The Gift Of Tongues Ceased With The Apostles
You should not claim equality of your experience to the word of God.

Yes, and WE also know that this is speaking of a time yet future....

1 Corinthians
13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether [there be] prophecies, they shall fail; whether [there be] tongues, they shall cease; whether [there be] knowledge, it shall vanish away.
13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Why does the idea of gifts bother some so much that they go to such lengths to deny it? Would you deny it if you suddenly woke up in the middle of the night and you were doing it?

When we meet Him face to face, we shall not even need faith. We shall walk by sight, but for now...

Hebrews
11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
11:2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
11:6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

...and the time that we hope for will come soon enough. Don't rush God, and don't throw His gifts in the garbage quite yet.
Yet an immediate future.

"Why does the idea of gifts bother some so much that they go to such lengths to deny it?"

If it were not true, valid, and available to His Own today the adversary would not attempt to mislead people to believe it ended and He is not the same, yesterday, today and forever.
Many of us received in the outpouring in the 70's and have stayed to course.
So often discussion of the divine prayer language we are commanded and encouraged to begin with practice is immediately perverted into the public gift, this misses the mark.
We start with a little and if we get that right He gives more, Jesus first recorded miracle was turning water into wine, He grew later to raising Lazarus. The 12 were given the same as He and most grew, Peter grew to where in Acts we learn the people knew if they lay their sick along the path he took to the synagogue.
Judas received the same as the rest yet he choose to be a devil and deny the power Jesus offers His own.
We see that here, today, now, in these threads that deny the gifts and rail against His truth and His gifts, and often as we see here, they misuse His words to deny, just as the devil did to eve in the garden, "did He really say do not eat of the tree?"

As often it's the tongues (languages) issue that comes up.

Some gifts having a different role/function today than in the times of the first apostles does not mean they have altogether ceased.

The personal divine prayer language is still best, strongest, most effective way I know to stay in the relationship and power He offers His Own.

And yet it is completely false and unadulterated heresy. What you have posted is never supported or taught in scripture. It is a complete fabrication.

Supernatural knowledge has ceased -- which means divine revelations.
Really? So you do not allow the Holy Spirit to guide you? You have a major problem in that everything about God is what we might call supernatural.

So you believe in God, Whom you cannot see, but you wish to control His Spirit.

You say supernatural knowledge BUT the Bible does NOT say supernatural anything. It simply states 'knowledge.'

You have fooled yourself with your human understanding and you do not even see what you do. The Bible tells us to ask if we lack wisdom but you cannot do that because, according to you, that would be supernatural knowledge.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

That is it, isn't it? By their own choice they deny what Christ died on the cross to provide for us as they "hold to an outward form of godliness denying the power thereof".

His Own will do even greater works than He, as He tells us clearly.

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are great places to begin to learn and grow in His ways.

SophieT, Your faith is strong and true.

Supernatural knowledge has ceased -- which means divine revelations.
How then does the Holy Spirit convict, if not by Divine revelation?

Some might call it supernatural intercession, or intervention.

And many have experienced it.

To say it has ceased is an egregious error.

Annnnd...

No one has done that. No one. Instead of falsely accusing, why don't you offer something of substance?

How can my claim be false when Paul told the Corinthians exactly what I have said?
And you say that with a straight face? Well I can't see your face so I hope you are not laughing cause this anything but funny.

You misquote Paul so bad he is asking for permission to come down and bop you one.

This separating of His sheep from the goats is going on and on.
I had earlier thought it would be a short span of time, seems to me now He is giving everyone an very abundant amount of time to stop leaning on they're own understanding and seek His direction for their every thought word and deed. There will be no excuse when we each stand in judgement for not having given Him first place and knowing Him in relationship.
He Himself has told us there will be some who did signs and wonders in His name yet knew Him not, proving by Jesus own words that the signs and wonders have not and will not cease, unless one decides to claim Jesus is a liar.
blessings in Jesus name to those who are truly His Own
