Well, I think this needs a separate place. I hesitate to post this at all because I am most likely an independent and don't want to take sides and would rather see agreement between opposing factions than unproductive stonewalling/discord. In order to not have the OP be a tl;dr, I feel strongly that my views are not fully developed and it would be wisest to refrain for now on the topic of peacemaking/mediation.
Please keep this civil. If you want to vent/rant or react in the flesh because you are heated...there are other threads you can use where that is already happening.
I understand that might offend some of you...but the political process working correctly is agreeing to disagree and meeting each other halfway. It has become a "no quarter given" situation. This is NOT what I understand unity in the body of Christ to be, so please consider that before posting.
What I have no interest in, by political force, is unilateral gridlock in the political process OR a one party system without agreement from the opposing party silencing and sidelining a sizable portion of this country. There may be war in politics at present but I have ZERO interest in that war spilling over into the physical where blood is shed. Though some might say this already happens...a full scale conflict is entirely undesirable. This is a simple statement of the option of an armistice not peace as I don't believe peace can exist the way most hold it in our minds at this time.
So if we can have a civil discussion about this...excellent. I've not seen such a thing before and hopefully I can independently start this thread without being either nay or yea publicly. Some may see that as cowardice and that "may" have merit...but I think there is a strong need for middle people that are "legitimately" bipartisan and declaring one thing or the other alienates someone and precludes productive agreement "if" possible.
It could be that none of this is a likelihood despite how it may appear, but I can't deny that the possibilities are difficult not to consider on some level.
