Whom do you love?

The lord informs us that we cannot serve two masters, that we will either hate the one and love the other; or we will hold on to the one, and despise the other. What this means is that when we die, however we die, we will have either lived for our flesh which we will have loved, and the spirit which we have hated, or we will have lived for the spirit which we will have loved, and the flesh which we will have hated.
What this also means is that while many of us here and throughout the churches hold on to the doctrine that to attempt to leave our sins is to do a work, and therefore would nullify Gods salvation through His grace; to not repent of our carnal worldly ways, would then mean our voluntarily choosing our flesh to love and serve, and the spirit to hate and reject.


Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

I predict this thread is about how we need to love God to earn eternal life . We need to show our love by doing works and deeds to demonstrate that we have surrendered all , committed all , promised all , dedicated all picked up our cross every day , tithe, fast , and if we do this until we die we might go to heaven?

Whatever you predict or don't predict; ...the Word is simple and clear, we love and serve either our flesh or the spirit. Some may say they believe in Christ, while their actions/fruit in the flesh indicate otherwise.

Matthew 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

You could line up a Jehovah's_Witness a mormon and a Christian. Which one do you think most would say looks the most ' fruitful ' . It would possibly be mainly the Jw and the mormon . They do way more than the average Christian. So when Jesus says ' you will know them by their fruits its about what they teach .

You touch on a subject where passions seem to rule, instead of wisdom. Sadly, many Christians think that the blindfolded picture of Justice with a set of scales is how God judges, hoping their good deed outweigh their bad.

It's what's in your heart what the Lord sees/knows. You either know love and love knows you, or you don't, and love who is God doesn't know you. Where your treasure is, is where your heart will be.

Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

It may just be me, but this statement is fairly confusing. Could you be a bit more clear about what you are saying please? Thank you.

I think the bible speaks for itself!

Let's put it like this stepbystep; we all do works one way or the other. If you therefore, repent yourself of your worldly ways, you will then grow in the Spirit and your works will then be from the spirit. If, however, you do not repent yourself of your worldly ways, your works will then be carnally based, no matter what you think otherwise. You will do things based on where your heart is, whether worldly or spiritually.

Ok. To be clear, you are NOT saying works are required for salvation, right? As I read Scripture, our "good works" are because we are saved, and led by the Holy Spirit as we work for the Kingdom in whatever position/way God purposed us for. This is laid out in Ephesians I believe.

It is even more to the point when we realize our faith is gold. The walls of New Jerusalem will be comprised of the faith of the saints.

With this in mind, our Blessed Master has given each of us some gold in the form of f faith to use as we are graced to do the works of our Father. If we bury that gold, it only becomes filthy and of no worth. We are to be prepared for when our blessed Lord returns to show forth the products of our servitude.

Works by themselves cannot bring us to salvation. If you try doing good works, but your heart is far from loving your neighbor, then you have an ulterior motive in your heart for the supposed good works you perform. Where your treasure is, is where your heart is; and God who is love, wants our hearts towards Him who is Spirit.
If, therefore, we do not repent ourselves of our worldly carnally inclined ways, how is our heart going to go after the Spirit? It cannot.
You cannot serve two masters. You have to repent yourself of your carnal master before proceeding towards the Spirit.
To accept Christ for our salvation, is to believe in and accept the life He lived; one which believe in truth, justice, and love for our neighbor.
