Mary, I could post at least two dozen verses in response, which clearly reveal that God offers salvation to ALL MANKIND. So your Calvinistic slant does not answer the OP at all. It simply reveals your indoctrinated bias. And each of those verses can be interpreted PROPERLY in the context of the whole Gospel.

Why does God offer eternal life to all mankind?

1. God planned to give mankind eternal life from the very beginning (a) by making man in His own image and likeness, and (b) by placing the tree of Life in the middle of the Garden of Eden.

2. Because of Adam's disobedience, all mankind was made subject to sin and death.

3. Therefore Christ as the Lamb of God took away the sin of the world.

4. And because Christ finished His work of redemption for all mankind, all may partake freely of the Water of Life.

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. (Rev 22:17)

What does "whosoever will" mean? Anyone and everyone, regardlesss. Which translates into ALL MEN EVERYWHERE.
The natural man, before he has been regenerated, will not be numbered in the "all men everywhere", because the "water of life" is spiritual water, and the natural man cannot discern it, and thinks that it is foolishness.

All scriptures mus harmonize, if we are to understand the truths contained within them.

John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

john 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

john 14:
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

may this help someone :)

This is TOTAL NONSENSE since the Gospel is indeed for the natural man. You are the one who has no understanding of the power of the Gospel and the accompanying power of the Holy Spirit to convict and convince BEFORE regeneration.

What is God's will for all men?

Acts
17:27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Who does God now command to repent?

Who is this addressed to?

What should we do with any man made 'doctrine' that says this is not possible for all men or that this does not pertain to all men?

1 Timothy, Chapter 2 is what I believe best answers your questions

Context is critical. So let's keep that verse in context.

1 CORINTHIANS 2: THE DEEP THINGS OF GOD ARE UNDERSTOOD ONLY BY THOSE WHO ARE SPIRITUAL

PAUL'S PREACHING WAS IN THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

OUR FAITH MUST BE IN THE POWER OF GOD
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

PAUL IS ADDRESSING THOSE WHO ARE PERFECT (MATURE)
6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

THE WISDOM OF GOD IS REVEALED IN MYSTERIES
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

THE RULERS OF THE WORLD KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

GOD'S FUTURE PLANS FOR THE SAINTS ARE BEYOND HUMAN WISDOM
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

THE DEEP THINGS OF GOD HAVE BEEN REVEALED TO THE SAINTS BY THE SPIRIT
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

ONLY THE HOLY SPIRIT KNOWS THE DEEP THINGS OF GOD
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

BELIEVERS HAVE RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHO REVEALS TO THEM THE THINGS GIVEN BY GOD
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

THE HOLY SPIRIT TEACHES SPIRITUAL THINGS TO BELIEVERS
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

THOSE DEVOID OF THE SPIRIT CANNOT DISCERN THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. [Note carefully: this cannot possibly apply to the Gospel, since the Gospel is meant for those devoid of the Spirit]

THE SPIRITUAL MAN MAY JUDGE ALL THINGS
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Christ's command was to preach the Gospel to every creature. Every creature means every human being, and every human being is "a natural man" until he is saved. Therefore the Gospel is meant to be understood by the unregenerate.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
When God gets completely dealing with the evil in His universe, we will see every knee bowed and every tongue confess Christ. Even those on their way to the Lake of Fire. 6-old-thumbsup.gif

I will expound upon your statement "Note carefully: this cannot possibly apply to the gospel, since the gospel is meant for those devoid of the Spirit" All of the other verses that you have quoted have reference to the born again, with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

I understand your intensity in trying to make the natural unregenerate man to be able to understand the things of the Spirit, due to your theory of thinking that mankind has to have some input in his eternal deliverance.

The gospel is NOT MEANT for those devoid of the Holy Spirit. Those devoid of the Holy Spirit, if presented with the good news of the gospel, would not understand it, and think it to be foolishness.

The good news of the gospel is meant to be preached to newly regenerated babes in Christ to bring, to their understanding, a knowledge of the righteousness of God. Romans 1:17, For therein (the gospel) is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith.

Rom 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith "OF" Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe.

2 Pet 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God, and our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 28:9-10, Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, and there a little.

The natural man is not regenerated, not on the milk of the word, and cannot be taught about the things of the Spirit, until they have been regenerated.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2 Pet 3:9, Let us understand who Peter is speaking to: That is found in 2 Pet 1:1, The "ANY" & "ALL", in 2 Pet 3:9, are those that have obtained like precious faith.

Peter even includes himself in his warning to them by using the word "us-ward", warning them that when they commit a sin, that they should repent, because when the regenerate commit a sin, it separates them from their their fellowship with God, temporary, until they repent. Perish=death=a separation.

ROMANS 12:2.
And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

COL. 3:16.
Let The Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to The Lord.

PHI. 4:8.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

A simple search of the GOSPEL preached by the Apostles is "The Gospel of the KINGDOM" What is the KINGDOM?
The Kingdom of God/Yahuah. His plan from the beginning is for ALL of his creation to be perfect/Holy. We will ALL
be his Sons. Search, Son of God/Sons of God in the Bible . Adam was a Son of God. Jesus/Yashuah was a Son of God.
Angels are not. Read Job. God/Yahuah is talking to Job & saying "Were you there when I laid the foundations of the Earth,
when the Angels sang, & the Sons of God shouted for joy. Two distinct & different creatures. Angels are neither male
or female therefore cannot reproduce. They are not Sons of God. When we are changed into our perfected/spiritual bodies
we become, Sons of God & only then can we enter into his Kingdom, which will be on the New Heaven & New Earth.
God/Yahuah will put His Throne there & we will be with him forever. Amen

amen , The wonderful thing is the promise of what happens when we accept repentance

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39, 41‬ ‭p

“But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:18-19‬ ‭

we Can get out of the devils snare

“In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:25-26‬ ‭

to acknowledge repentance is the obstacle if we don’t accept the truth of repentance like in your post we’ll never find a reason to do it but when believers accept it faith will press them towards it because they believe

What is God’s Will for all Men

There are many valid answers to this eternal question. However, they all revolve around two truths:
  • God wants all people to be saved (1 Timothy2:3-6).
  • For those who accept his offer his purpose is that they be “conformed to the image of his Son” (Romans 8:29).
All the activities of the church should be directed to these ends (Matthew 12:14; Colossians 1:28-29).

Thankyou Pilgrimshope. That should have been 1 Timothy 2:3-4

This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3‑4, NIV)
