Does anyone on here consider themselves a furry/have friends that consider themselves a furry?

First: "Furries" are not automatically perverts.

Fur suits are kind of like puppets or ventriloquist dummies, except they wear them instead of hold them. They all allow the user to act out a part of his personality that normally doesn't get much air time, a side of himself that people would think odd to display without the puppet, dummy or fursuit.

Yeah, some people have made it REALLY weird by developing strange fetishes around fursuits. But for people who think all furries are like that, it is the same as saying all people who have guns must be murderers.

There's a Reddit drama between the people who want to wear skinsuits over their fursuits and the ones who just want to take off the fursuits.

Edit: I actually want to add, that 1st YouTube video I post in the OP, it does contain some sexual images, they are all censored, but still throwing out a warning cause I know there are people who are sensitive/don’t like that stuff, it didn’t feel right to have a warning, so here’s the warning.

Figured it might be fun to get to asking on here about furries, if you don’t know about furries, then you are warned, stuff I will talk about will get weird, but for those of you who already know or don’t want to live “under the rock of not knowing about furries”, let’s move along to explaining:

So furries have been around since 1970s, it started off as something underground but is now a subculture, you are considered a furry if you have an interest in Anthropomorphic animal characters, think of some of the animal characters from animated movies, like Disney’s animated Robin Hood movie, all the characters are considered to be Anthropomorphic animals, since they walk on two legs and act like humans. The furry fandom on the Internet is basically known for being weird, and being into sexual stuff. Not saying this is everyone, but it is a common internet stereotype to associate furries with most of them making porn art of animals or get “really attracted” to animals. I don’t judge, you can live life how you want to and I know not all furries are the same, but there is a reason why it is a common internet stereotype.

Furries also have fursuits and will sometimes have “fursonas”, they pretend to act as their animal character, it’s used for Role playing such as Internet forums, online videogames, etc.

I ask because I just legitimately want to know if there is a Christian that would consider themselves a Furry, not to be mean, but I just know the fandom is so...well wacky for a lack of better terms, so I just want to see what someone’s experience of being a furry and a Christian could be like, or if they gave up on being a furry and became a Christian, or if there are people on here that know furries in real life. My brother is actually friends with one, and my brother says while he is a bit weird, he’s a cool guy.

Also, I just want to stress, please don’t come into this thread to trash furries. Not saying that cause I want to defend them, but just knowing what I have seen on YouTube, read on Wikipedia, and seeing people talk about furries on various Internet forums, it could be very possible that some of them have been bullied, or are mentally ill/disabled, or embrace that “Screw society, I’m living life the way I want to” attitude. We as Christians have to love everyone, that includes the people who consider themselves the “social outcasts”, cause I used to think of myself as a social outcast, and you do get this view of “Screw reality, I hate reality”, and you use escapism to leave reality. Media isn’t bad, but when you use it to escape reality constantly, then that is dangerous and very unhealthy.

Weii i was around in the sventies and sixties and fifties and forties, but i hve never heard about furries so i would Be willing to give it a shot. It might be that they didnt cross the Canadian border, smiles. Peace and love of our Lord Jesus Chist be with you.

Furries are international and have been for some time now. So they're certainly in Canada. It's just not a mainstream culture.

I don't know any Furries...but I do know many, many furry-faced fellas.

It‘s not that hard to notice all of the bearded humans roaming around these days? It’s like an unofficial Lumberjack Invasion with a twist of cool-metro- hair-flare trend has hit the States full force? (Facial hair and man ponytails galore surrounds us/U.S.) I am a little ashamed to admit that I can not grow decent face chops, so everyday in awe I watch many beards going about their business and I often wonder the backstory to each beard strand that gracefully —yet somehow ruggedly—blows in the wind. It’s sad to witness many men are forced to hold back these trendy bushels of individual “statements” behind a face mask during these uncertain times. (Luckily most of them have unruly neck-crop overflow hair that extends past the mask to let us know there is indeed a face beast that is forced to be caged)

Last month I borrowed the idea and tried to put together a “Beards Across America” event.
(for a good cause of course) We set our facial hair plan in motion to stretch across the U.S ...but unfortunately I only had 17 guys sign up and we barely made a line down my driveway and 2 steps onto the sidewalk. (Enough money was raised for some beard shampoo and conditioner for the participants. No beards were harmed in the process)

Like me trying to grow a half Grizzly Adams/ half ZZ Top inspired chin masterpiece...it failed miserably.
Idk, maybe attempting to braid all of the beards together was a bit too ambitious on my part?

It didn’t matter, due to the quarantine and social distancing rules we got shut (and cut) down.
I hope TPTB realize that a bearded nation will not stay silent forever.

(Actually one could say the Beard Movement is...growing. 😉)

Please take note—in no way am I trying to take away from the amazing things it accomplished with this childish U.S. beard invasion joke above. Hmm, I would say that’s more of a “Beard fandom” than a “Furry fandom”, unless you have someone who believes they have a Fursona (Like a Wolf, fish creature, etc.) and has a fursuit, like I showed earlier, then those people can count I think.

But I don’t consider myself a furry, I like Anthrophoromic animals (I like adding animal ears to characters I draw, like if I draw a cat girl, dog person, etc. , Zootopia was AMAZING) but I don’t consider myself a furry since I don’t believe in having a Fursona and don’t have a fursuit.

The only thing I’m aware of for the “Beard fandom” is the “Movember” month (I think I spelled it right) where you grow a mustache to show support, but that stuff you mentioned sounds cool.

...never in a million years would I imagine myself saying “Beard Fandom” but here we are, LOL XD

...more like a Beard obsession? 🤔

Sometimes when l get up and off my cousins couch, there is so much dog and cat hair stuck to my clothes that I could possibly pass as a furry.

Does that count?
