I will keep an eye out for this, thank you :)

One of my clients is involved with the rhino conservation and he told me that they saw off all the rhino's horns in the area he is in charge of during lockdown. Sad really :(
At first it seemed odd that some conservationists were also selling rights to legally hunt their animals, but apparently even the park rangers are allowed to -or have to- kill an animal every once in awhile, for instance, to protect the people being terrorized by lions or elephants. Also, some of the profits from auctioning rights to trophy hunt, I believe go back into conservation. One of the most ridiculous things in the show was an American trophy hunter who arrogantly claimed it was his right to enter any country and hunt their animals regardless of the laws against such. What was even more maddening was his quoting the Bible to rationalize his views, as if our being good stewards give us the right to kill animals for pure sport. The movie did end with an announcement that the laws against the sale of rhino horns has been changed in South Africa. This is good news for conservationists, as it gives them an income to support their efforts at saving animals such as rhinos from extinction due to the barbarity of poaching.

The problem is that after 1994 the boundaries to South Africa were open in the Kruger National Park towards Zimbabwe and Mozambique. We can try to spare as many of the rhinos but the poachers are coming from Mozambique and hide there once they poached a horn.

The law has changed long ago (as I understand it) but the penalty when getting caught is a joke. These guys get away with murder (literally). :(

You don't own a pair of these do you @Magenta?

Yowzers, no, I must say, I do not own a pair of those :giggle:

Having said that, though, does not mean I have never owned anything similar ;)

Though I doubt I could wear anything like that now

Also, many years ago, I used to paint my own footwear :D

Thankfully these days shoes are now manufactured in an array of attractive colors (y):)

So I got the fright of my life last night. I heard a thumping noise on my front verandah. I assumed it was the dog from next door coming to say hello which she sometimes does. It was 9pm, I opened the door only to see a pair of fluoro eyes staring back at me. I didn't switch the light on so I couldn't work out what it was. It was too big to be a cat, too small to be an elephant lol. Turns out it was a possum. One of these things:

I have given him the name of Wally. I am hoping he has not taken up residence in my roof because how on earth will I get rid of him. I would have to call some type of possum whisperer or a wildlife warrior. I hope he is living in one of the large trees behind me and not in my roof and when he wants to get from A to B, I am hoping he walks around the house and not across my roof (n)
