Well I think it's not letting yourself get influenced by the ungodly and staying away from anything that will take you away from GOD and His Christ. Anything leading you in to sin. I've actually stopped watching television broadcasts and I have been much better for it. I truly believe the closer you are to the world and the things in it the further you are from GOD. I see so many worldly Christians with worldly opinions and lifestyles believing they are saved but showing no signs of the fruits of the spirit. Lord, Lord...... Depart from me you who practice lawlessness

I really do not know how to answer that except with graciousness, thank you. GOD blessed me from the time he called me and to this day I wonder why he called a sinner such as me and not so many others. I wish your journey to God and His Christ will be blessed and that you will grow in Spirit and Truth. Peace of GOD be with you and all Christians who honestly seek, knock and ask for GOD and His promises.

It means that our first loyalty is always to the Kingdom of God. We do not let the music, entertainment, swearing, or materialism of the culture around us have control of our lives. We do not leave the world; we live in the world; but we are not of the world!

Let me reconsider this answer. Instead let me say the question is really what does it mean to be a christian? The name was given to those who said christ was lord, the title is part of the deception which all men face, therefore, all men are christians. what the enemy of man plans to do to them it calls christians you have read about, but again, all men face these threats, so what is a christian?
Well because we are predestined to our Adoption ( Rom 8.23 ) After we believe and are sealed by the Holy Spirit and are seated in the heavenlies in Christ . Eph 2.6 . We are to walk by faith and not by sight 2 cor 5 .7

Fasting imho. We don’t anymore in general, why? Disconnecting your flesh from the world for 40 days and nights is the best therapy one can get. When things are stronger then yourself, lock yourself up for 40 days and nights and write a book to God. Or go on a trip where you execute all triggers and impulses seducing you to this world. These demonic forces are everywhere killing us spiritually.
We shut down the Holy Spirit more then our world (in general). So we need to seperate from this (human made) world which presents us things that are unnatural. Can we eat unclean meat and visit church while thinking we obey His Word? Can we wear clothes being made through child labor because it makes our politicians richer where many preachers pray for in service? We are more entangled by sin then we dare to imagine. That’s why they try to catch our minds constantly and divert us from the seriousness of it all. If we could truly see what we as species were doing, it would shock 90 procent to its core.

you don't hide yourself in God with Christ.
God is the one who hides His beloved in Himself with Christ.
there are hundreds of millions of people who believe other religions, who deny themselves all kinds of things of the world. millions who don't believe any religion at all, who also refrain from all kinds of things of the world.
that's not what makes a person separate from the world.
in fact, this same chapter 3 of Colossians calls such asceticism worldly, and of no spiritual value - 'having a show of wisdom' - and contrasts it with actually being in Christ, describing it as an earmark of sorts common to false teachers.
that doesn't mean such outward things aren't good. it means they are worthless without something else -- that something being what verse 3 is about. so IMO if we think being 'separate' is all about not watching certain things, doing certain things, eating certain things, etc, i think we're missing something.

Keep yourself separate physically and emotionally, stay in the spirit, keep the sword God gave by your side. You are not a part of this world and its conditioning, traditions, values, ethics and morals. All of it has failed miserably, and now we are seeing the consequences of man following those traditions etc. We are in the world, not of the world. And dont obey authorities, they are out to harm you. Our only leader is God. I stopped watching the tv news completely when this hoax started. And havent watched commercial tv in years. We are created in the image of God, and are the temple of the Holy Spirit, remember that at all times.
