No TV or movies?

Have you too noticed all of the unpleasantness in TV and movies? Do you like hearing OMG, which in my opinion is taking God's name in vain, or hearing the profanities? Do you want to end up with such a mouth? Do you like the scenes of blood and gore? Then why would you listen and watch? Are you filling your minds with such unpleasantries? Are there any secular shows on TV that do not have these unpleasantries? Is Satan deceiving you and everybody else?

Romans 12:2 Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Phillipians 4:8 ... whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Great insight here. There's a scripture that talks about avoiding the appearance of evil and also what fellowship does light have with darkness?

It goes pretty deep for a lot of people as to "why" they do it. It could be that it feeds their flesh and they are hungry, bored, or just tired. I've lost interest majorly in them myself because it got kind of tiresome looking for Godly films.

My family still watches things often, even after watching a documentary series about what TV/Movies are designed to do. They even agreed that I was saying similar things and maybe it has changed their outlook but I rarely bring it up anymore, I just follow what's in my heart.

For some around christmas is movie watching time and I just ask if we can do something else. I've been interrupted in conversation with "let's watch a movie" and I'm like. Watching a movie is spending time to you and is more important than Godly conversation?

Not to get on a high horse or anything though, I've certainly been deep into things before and ultimately it's just boring and not life giving so perhaps they just haven't gone deep enough to be turned off...not sure.

What is an issue to me is that people use films/TV to "wind down" or "relax"

Interestingly, there is a LOT of scholarly research out there that TV/Movies change your brain wave patterns and sort of induce a "meditative state" that coupled with suspended disbelief and the "wall" essentially makes you way more open to things that you would turn resolutely away from if you saw someone peddling that in person.

It's also the fact that if you saw a child say "shit" or something in person you may be inclined to overlook it if it were an accident, but if it were on purpose you would probably say something or it would give pause.

Same with taking the Lord's name in vain. If it just "slipped out" or they could not say it if you asked them it affects me differently than this casual acceptance of people deliberately doing this "on purpose" in a script intentionally to be viewed and consumed by others. To me, that is far more serious and yet is viewed as less serious to MANY believers for whatever reason..."Oh that's just the movie...it's not real..."

Nothing changes the fact that they did it on purpose deliberately and "practiced" it. That alone should give people pause.

Long topic but it is encouraging to see someone with similar views :)

Hi, don't let bitterness, anger pull you from GOD, satans uses these against us. Do as Christ said, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. I've had some pretty bad things done to me in my life and I once struggled greatly with them, now I pray God will help them out of darkness in the name Of Our Lord Jesus Christ. I think sometimes we are tested on our faith, I feel I have been many times and failed but for some reason now and not trough my doing things are changing and I have more peace. I try to remember how blessed are all those who are in Christ and sorry for those in darkness. Tell Alesa to give it all over to Christ and develop stronger in Spirit. I do not like Christians fighting one another, we are suppose to give understanding and share the gifts given to us from GOD. Tell Alesa GOD Knows all things and he will not forget the unkindness's done.

Who said bitterness and anger is in her heart and is pulling her from God??
Maybe she is trying to be helpful because a banned person has re-joined.
