Story now being reported:

Jerry Falwell Jr., president and chancellor of Liberty University, is taking an “indefinite leave absence from his roles” at the school, the university’s board of Trustees announced Friday.

The announcement comes after Falwell, a top evangelical Christian personality in the U.S., shared ― and then deleted ― a vacation photo on Instagram in which his pants were unbuttoned and unzipped.

Falwell has faced pressure this week to resign over the photo, which he defended as having been taken “in good fun.”

Tell the truth, while it may be weird to post this online..........well, for a person in his position.......I really do not see it being such an offense that he had to leave his job at Liberty University............. I mean, goodness............

Another one falls for Satan. How shameful. That's what happens when you allow Satan followers in your midst. Eventually, women seduce a man, and the rest is history.

1 Corinthians 10:13

13 No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
--
You gotta discipline yourself to take the way of escape early on, either by rejecting these people outright from your congregations, or avoiding any contact with them outside of Church / Educational public activities.

Godspeed.

I checked out the photo, Falwell and a female, both with their buttons undone and zippers down, the female had shorts on, Falwell had his underwear showing?

Can't be a Christian university President and live like the devil?

Posting that photo on Instagram?

Best for him to move on in my opinion.

This is from a article I was reading: The university subjects its students to a strict code of conduct, prohibiting premarital sex and the consumption of media that includes "lewd lyrics, anti-Christian messages, sexual content, nudity, pornography, etc."

In light of that, I wonder what in the world he was thinking when he decided to unzip that photo for the world to see.

What was he thinking? This type of public activity is not acceptable from any university staff. He needs to step aside, and spend some time with God.

Umm a woman seduces a man? Couldn't have been the other way round? Takes two to tango.

Nudity? Might want to read the bible over that one! Isiah, Adam, King David, Saul, concubines, many wives.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Gal 6:1

What I think is not relevant, what GOD says is. Restored to a right relationship with GOD? YES! - with meekness.
Restored to his position of authority? Maybe later. That would be up to GOD and those in authority over him.

Why are we soooo quick to throw people away?

Nobody is saying he can't repent and be restored.

Returning as president of the university?

It appears he burnt that bridge with his ignorance in posting the clip on Instagram.

Restored with God is between he and God. Restored to the job? He was with a young woman who is not his wife drinking alcohol with his pants unzipped. Do you think that a man with these type of issues should be restored to a job where he is surrounded by young women? Not a smart move.

Repenting and restoring his relationship with the Lord is between he and God. Returning to his former position is not a Biblical question.

oh but it is. ESPECIALLY in these times we need people who are above reproach to represent what we say we believe in. and don't say forgiveness is a part of that. forgiveness is, but not rank betrayal and immoral behavior. take a look at those ministries in which the main person sinned in a sexual or monetary way where they were allowed to come back. I can think of 3 right off. Very bad very bad decision.

and he threw away something that cannot be bought

a testimony of the gospel of Christ. seeing is believing so they say, and after seeing such a picture, I would contend he makes Christians a laughing stock

to be sure though, there have been plenty of negative comments from those who are working around him before this incident

he is not his father nor is he representing his heavenly Father in any way acceptable

he threw it away his 'position' himself

the fact is, people are to quick to reinstate someone that might actually need much more time or possibly never again

as it is, he should never operate again in a way that leaves too much for his decision making processes as they seem to be marred

now everyone can run around doing damage control. Thank you Falwell JR

As I said, that is between GOD, those to whom he is submitted and him.
the thing is he was not submitted to begin with. do you know anything about what went on in that University?

‘Someone’s Gotta Tell the Freakin’ Truth’: Jerry Falwell’s Aides Break Their Silence
More than two dozen current and former Liberty University officials describe a culture of fear and self-dealing at the largest Christian college in the world.

article

I would say the fall of Mr Falwell was inevitable because of unchecked prior behavior

he was not answerable and too late now

Over the past year, Falwell, a prominent evangelical leader and supporter of President Donald Trump, has come under increasing scrutiny. News outlets have reported on business deals by Liberty University benefiting Falwell’s friends. Trump’s former personal attorney Michael Cohen claimed that he had helped Falwell clean up racy “personal” photographs.

To Lenna,
No I do not know anything about what went on at Liberty University. That is a long article attached to the link you provided. I did glance over it and it looks like there's something wrong at LU. I will revisit it later and look for a second and maybe third source for confirmation. I'll admit to being naive about LU.

IF he was not in submission to elders or some structured group as unto the LORD, if 'he was not answerable' as you say, he was not operating by biblical principals and pretty much doomed to fail.
