Hi Rolene... and welcome.
God forgot His ego when He came down, abandoning all the glory and inhabiting a common mortal body, and died, so He could have us.
I am unaware of any Scripture that God wants worship and adoration for the sake of egotistical self satisfaction.
Such motivation is really foreign to God's beautiful character.
Praise is the highest expression of happiness. God wants us to enjoy all His provisions for us, physical and spiritual.
Some people imagine God like He is some vengeful old man, and this is a big loss because it prevents them from knowing Him.
God never changed. God's fingerprint, since He created the universe, always was and is the same loving character that Jesus showed when coming on earth.
He does not need things from us:
Psalm 50:12-13 If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
for the world is Mine, and the fullness thereof.
Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
Hosea 6:6 I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice,
the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
This is to be understood, I want your love, I want you to know me, I want
you, not your gifts (as if we could possibly offer something to God that He couldn't snap fingers and get it Himself)
God is love. And the one who loves, he wants to be forever where his loved ones are.
Hebrews 10:5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You prepared for Me.
1 Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a member of it.
Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me.
Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD has appeared of old to me,
saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.
1 John 4:16 And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
