Posting here so I do not post in a certain different thread.:)

Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

And we gave away a lot of "stuff." We sold some "stuff" and we still have "stuff." lolol
I did the same thing....was building 9100 square feet of cabins/houses on my 51 acres in missouri....when I moved from Arkansas I opened my house and gave the contents of the whole house to all neighbors less fortunate....what was left...good will came and picked up.

Actually my husband and I are "downsizing" and looking for a life "more simple." We have "de cluttered" stuff and hopefully our lives. We are temporarily in an apartment for 12 months and will take that time to find a small, cottage type home. That is our plan anyway. lol We had a huge home on the lake which we built in 1998 and it is just too much. Life comes in stages and we are looking for the next phase.

Sometimes our lives become full of "stuff" which clouds out time for Our Lord. May the Holy Spirit remind us of that, often.

After the work I've been through lately, to even think I had to "work" for my heavenly home, salvation, and staying in the grace of the Lord Jesus, well I just could not do it. Praise God He has done the work through Jesus.

Take my yoke he said....His burden is light and what was the other word......EASY! The religionists, salvation losers and workers for MAKE THE YOKE HEAVY AND IMPOSSIBLE!

"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Why does the Word of God tell us not to strive?

2 Timothy 2:24 "And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,"

2 Corinthians 6:4 " Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships, and calamities"

I have been taught the yoke was a reference back to the law which was heavy and His is "easy" in comparison... however what is the "burden" I have often wondered about this... is it a reference back to the law keeping as well as a contrast?

Wait! Didn't you do work to post this thread about "Not by works"? Had you not posted this, would someone who's never heard of "Not by works" heard of it? If so, did they get saved by your works for informing them about Jesus Christ?

Pay attention to people's actions not words. That's where the truth always is!

I am not a follower of Paul. I am a true Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, the namesake of the word Christian!

Here is what Jesus Christ says:

John 8:31-32 (WEB)

31 Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. 32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

John 14:23-24 (WEB)

23 Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him. 24 He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.

Luke 6:46-49 (WEB)

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things which I say? 47 Everyone who comes to me, and hears my words, and does them, I will show you who he is like. 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it was founded on the rock. 49 But he who hears, and doesn’t do, is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”

The just shall live by faith....Jesus bore our yoke on the tree......any embellishment to his yoke adds undue burden.....whether the law, religious works, religionism etc....

His yoke is easy....love God love each other!

Wait a minute! You put ZzZzZzzz on a post that has scripture by Jesus Christ!!!?! Wow! What does that say about you? Now I know the kind of person you are.

Paul spoke about his own situation only. It is most certainly secondary to what Jesus Christ said.

Please don't use inappropriate reactions on posts with scripture. That is very wrong. Biblical discussions must only be conducted with the utmost reverence and respect.

Godspeed.

Zzzzzzz and like I said....the words of Paul are the words of Jesus....

Jesus was born, lived and died UNDER THE LAW which ratified the NEW COVENANT....to pit Christ against Paul is foolish and contradicts the bible!

yes, another trying ( and failing ) to try to make Paul contradict Jesus.

i mean, here was a man who hated Jesus followers, was on the way to arrest them, and then had a terrifying encounter with the very person whom he was going against .

how can anyone think that after this encounter that Paul would contradict Jesus , who BLINDED Him??
