Enemies of God live in the dark unaware of their impending doom.
The fearful expectation of Judgment belongs to those who draw near to God in Hope.
You fear in your sinful nature as a loving God is drawing you near.
You come near because you believe in the love of God poured on through Jesus Christ.
The fear continues to exist as long as unbelief has a place in us.
Unbelief is what sin (iniquity) is.
So as the unbelief is replaced by faith in the Son of God so also the sin is replaced and the fear also with it.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you, cleans your hands you sinners and purify your hearts you double minded, weep and mourn over you condition and believe in God to Save you, sanctify you completely body mind and soul unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love - 1 John 4:18

Get ready for Him, like a bride who wants to be beautiful for her Husband.

To be perfected in love is to totally receive and live in Gods love and to totally love him back by keeping his commandments.
To the extent we do both all fear is driven out even the fear of death.

Sin is more than just unbelief. Sin is outright hatred for God, it is being so in love with your own life that you would rather see God dead than give it up.

Why would I fear peace, and why would I fear the love of God?

Punctuation is a blessing. ;)

OK.... But the context I was referring to was the unbelief of a believer being what our sin is.
The outright enemies of God are in the darkness, the fruits of their unbelief are in full bloom.
They do not love so they do not come in fear into the light.

Unbelief of a believer is not what causes fear, there is no fear in love. What causes fear is not fully understanding the extent of your sin and thereby not giving it up. Fear has to do with punishment, once you've been judged by God you need not fear punishment because you know His judgment.

This is one of those places where lexical range has changed. When it says fear it doesn't mean what fear is restricted to today but reverential awe. Those who know God and have submitted to His judgment have nothing to fear.

Perhaps or it could be those who come to him in fear rather then reject him.

Since my own instant of salvation, this has been my understanding of fear also.......... Without respect of our Maker, without believe He is, there can be no gift of faith.

Holding a fear prior to judgment is reasonable, but God repeatedly tells those who are His things like "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. "(Isaiah 41:10) or "Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. " (Deuteronomy 31:6).

Once a person has confronted the depths of their sin, understood it for what it is, and lets it go transgression brings no fear. He will never leave nor forsake those who are His.

It is only those who are unsure or unaware of God's judgment that have anything to fear from Him. Those who live the gospel know He is their father who loves them dearly.

thinking that God is magnificent doesn't necessarily cause you to make wise choices;
being afraid of how God will respond to our foolishness, on the other hand, does.

Not so fearing God Himself, but His reaction(s) to our disobedience of Him?

Matthew, Chapter 10:28) And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

2 Corinthinas, Chapter 6:17) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Chapter 7:1) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

There is also fear that is actually "awe/great respect for God.

Proverbs, Chapter 9:10) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Psalms, Chapter 111:10) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Job, Chapter 28:28) And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

KJV Dictionary Definition: awe

I guess I missed the 'Peace' part.

If we are submitted to God in faith all of those are for us.
We do not fear this world or all that is in the world that we face.
If we fear God.

It is fearing God himself at first, knowing the kindness and severity of God.
But later it is fearing God as our Father knowing what he expects from us.

We are instructed to conduct ourselves in fear in this life.
Instructed to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.
These are in the Fear of God.
The spirit of fear is the fear of the world.
It is about a right place to put your fears.
The right place will give peace.

I'm not sure it's necessary. Fear certainly hasn't been a motivator in my life towards anything good. And that kind of fear is exactly what's addressed in 1 John.

Recognizing that I am loved has caused me to avoid far more sin than fear of punishment. In fact, fear of punishment use to feed a vicious loop of sin in my life and it wasn't until I finally prayed for God to reveal His judgment against me that I was set free.

Maybe for some the fear is a necessary ingredient, but to me when I read "the fear of God" I read it as respect/reverential awe.

OOPS. my bad missing a comma in the title.
If a mod can add the comma between fear and peace that would be nice.

from what I can see in scripture, everyone who had an encounter with an angel or 'the angel of the Lord' were in great fear. no one was like 'oh hey dude. wasup?'

and every one of them were told not to fear

I don't think we should be spinning the word 'fear' here in a way that is obviously not intended

just my 2.5 pennies
