Pastor Chuck Smith, now in heaven is one online pastor I've started listening to in hours after my bedtime each day. I notice he has often commented on how the church in the world is always more alive and spiritually powerful during times of hardship or persecution, as compared to times of prosperity, when life is much easier and pleasant. He mentioned the hard times of the Great Depression, and of the 2 world wars. And said that after all of that, the USA is living in a time of prosperity and ease - and that it can be seen how society has become increasingly distant from God in modern times here. It's sad that after hard times are over, that there is the new problem - danger - of many people falling away from God, and becoming increasingly irreligious. So I see that in this life - there is nothing perfect - there is always reason for concern and praying for improvement in things. So though this is sad that there is no permanent improvement in things in this life - still, I am glad that as a Christian, I always have cause for rejoicing, as my future home is in heaven with God! And I'm not alone in the troubles and problems of this life. I, of course, pray daily for spiritual revival to go on in the USA and throughout the world, and think every true Christian should see praying for that as a regular duty they should never negelect.
