N.C. City Approves Reparatoions.....

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – In an extraordinary move, the Asheville City Council has apologized for the North Carolina city's historic role in slavery, discrimination and denial of basic liberties to Black residents and voted to provide reparations to them and their descendants.

The 7-0 vote came the night of July 14.

"Hundreds of years of Black blood spilled that basically fills the cup we drink from today," said Councilman Keith Young, one of two African American members of the body and the measure's chief proponent.

"It is simply not enough to remove statutes. Black people in this country are dealing with issues that are systemic in nature."

The unanimously passed resolution does not mandate direct payments. Instead, it will make investments in areas where Black residents face disparities.

This is "white guilt" run amok IMO. It is a truly sad example of white guilt, and evidence of Socialist Liberalism playing to the Blacks for votes............

IF reparations are to be paid (in any form), then FIRST we must go to the various African Countries along the Ivory Coast who raided black villages, enslaved those blacks, and marched them to the African Coast to sell them to Dutch and English Traders anchored there................. BLACKS WERE SELLING BLACKS INTO SLAVERY!!!!!!!! That is Historical Truth!

Funny how people completely ignore this fact.

Here's a question to ponder:

How many black men, women and children would have ended up being sold into slavery here in the U.S. IF BLACKS from Africa had NOT sold them to the Dutch and English Traders? IF those Traders had to capture their own blacks to load on their ships, and sell, how many would they have got? I suspect only a fraction of what ended up being sold here in the U.S.

why cant you just accept that things were unjust and ask forgiveness and move on.
nobody wants to be enslaved, but it was common even back in Josephs time (Josephs own brothers sold him into slavery) yet he forgave them and they DID ask forgiveness. They had no idea how the egyptian slavers were gonna treat Joseph. Joseph actually had it quite good away from his family.

However God dealt with Pharoah in a different way when he started treating the Hebrews cruelly.

If I recall, Moses killed an Egyptian who was flogging a hebrew, yet God saw his anger and frustration and called him to lead His people out of slavery. At first the Hebrews were quite willing to work for the egyptians, they had abundant food etc but it soon turned into hard labour.

why is this relevant
its because of the way people treat each other. Years later, because the eyptians learned they couldnt mess with Gods people, who were precious to Him, Jesus and his family actually fled to Egypt as refugees.
so to this day its written in scripture to treat foreigners as guests because of how the Hebrews were first treated in egypt, they had food etc.

IF you are speaking to me.........I have ZERO to ask forgiveness for............see, my Heritage includes BOTH African American and Jewish blood..............Even if it didn't, I STILL would have zero to ask forgiveness for. WHY?

Because I HAD ZERO to do with the actions of peoples from the 1800's.............

IF you are pushing "white guilt," then I suggest you take your own advice........

Slavery is STILL PRACTICED today in Africa. Blacks enslaving/mistreating/ and selling other blacks.......

So, WHO EXACTLY, should ask for forgiveness?

Reparations are demanded by people and for people who voted a Black man into the presidency. Talk about irony.

I wonder if other city councils will follow?
Do all those who were oppressed and discriminated against before the black slaves get paid first?
Are these Carolina reparations recipients going to file a lawsuit against their homeland? The origin of their ancestors? For selling them into slavery so the whole thing could begin? What about the black slave owners? Are they still responsible for owning slaves and mistreating them?
Where's it stop?
Are these Carolina city council people aware that not only is slavery ongoing but virtually all races are victims? Not to forget sex slavery.

It's not actually reparations. It's a political ploy.

Essentially they are providing funds for business ownership and housing. Um.. You know like section 8 housing that they already have out there. It doesn't provide money to black individuals though such as stipends and such.

The whole thing is dumb. My ancestors weren't even around then. It happened so long ago and most Americans are a mix of DNA. So it wouldn't be uncommon for a black person to have a white ancestor. Do they take from them and pay them? It just makes no sense.

On top of that, it was legal back then. It would be like charging every person who had an abortion now with murder later. Obviously it was wrong but they did it when it was legal.

the liberals who rail against the " 1% ", and demand to take and redistribute their money fail to understand that only about 2% of southerners actually owned slaves back in the 1800's.

so, make everyone pay for what 2% did. a complete reversal of their policy everywhere else. but, hey, liberal logic...

and, how about the descendants of the african tribes that sold their own people into slavery? should they not pay reparations also???

and , my ancestors worked along side the slaves back then, wore the same raggedy clothes, ate the same simple food, lived in the same ramshackle shack,

they just had a little piece of land and a few nickels in their pockets.

but, that's o.k., when the northern invaders came through, they burned everything down, white and black just the same.

so, they brought equality , nobody had anything.

I guess this is where all the money from defunding the police will go.

I know I have a lot to learn about racial discrimination. I grew up in a white neighborhood, went to a predominantly white school, (actually I only remember one girl who was black and she ended up getting kicked out of school for writing the 'f' word on the back of a piece of paper. I honestly don't remember anyone else ever getting kicked out of that school. It was a small Christian Lutheran school). Very truly sad.
Anyways, all of this 'predominant' stuff was actually segregation if I am to look at it honestly. I never saw it that way. I didn't think that I had a prejudiced/discriminatory/racist bone in my body because I honestly do respect everyone, or at least I think I do. But to deny the culture that I live in and the way it has shaped our beliefs, our actions, our social systems, educational systems, how we hire people for jobs.... to tip the scales in favor of people with white skin... is to perpetuate racism even if I'm "just" another fish swimming in the sea of not seeing it.
It's not until I am willing to take a look at this situation from a perspective that isn't what I'm used to, be humble enough to recognize that there is a ton of discrimination and oppression that is going on in our country right now, that I don't and can't see because it's not happening to me... and be willing to have my eyes opened and listen to someone else's perspective. I honestly want to learn. I have so much to learn. And for THAT, I can say from the bottom of my heart that I take responsibility for what I have done as a part of this culture to perpetuate it. I feel relieved that I am finally headed in the right direction to love and yes fight for my brothers and sisters, and anyone who is on the receiving end of discrimination and oppression.

Asheville NC has a population of 92,000, if they give everybody $11 bucks that's a $Million

How deep are the City's pockets?

Looks like Egypt needs to pay reparation to the world's Jews, 400 years of slavery?

Germans to the Jews, World War II?

Looks like a liberal Democratic Mayor in Asheville, trying to gain political favor?

China currently has 1 Million Muslims as slaves in prison camps, what are the democrats doing about that, there silent?

Asheville had a 2019 budget of $185 Million, with roughly 20,000 black residents, at a reparation payment of $10,000 for every black residents, that would equal the entire city budget?

Hardly reparation, even if they gave the entire budget, perhaps they could throw a free barbeque tooooo?

What, specifically, have you done to perpetuate racism in America? Have you personally discriminated against black Americans simply because of the color of their skin? Just wondering what racist sin you have committed.

The Countries in the African Continent have more slaves than any other in the world..............FYI

Since I have both Black and Jewish blood in my bloodline, should I demand payment from both America and Germany? Hmm............ That might be hard since I also have German, Irish, and Cherokee blood......... I would end up just paying myself I suppose..........
