Philippians 4
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

2 Peter 1:19-21
  1. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
  2. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
  3. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Judges 8:22-23 (ESV)

22 Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, “Rule over us, you and your son and your grandson also, for you have saved us from the hand of Midian.” 23 Gideon said to them, “I will not rule over you, and my son will not rule over you; the Lord will rule over you.”

1 Samuel 24

English Standard Version

24 [a] When Saul returned from following the Philistines, he was told, “Behold, David is in the wilderness of Engedi.” 2 Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel and went to seek David and his men in front of the Wildgoats' Rocks. 3 And he came to the sheepfolds by the way, where there was a cave, and Saul went in to relieve himself.[b] Now David and his men were sitting in the innermost parts of the cave. 4 And the men of David said to him, “Here is the day of which the Lord said to you, ‘Behold, I will give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.’” Then David arose and stealthily cut off a corner of Saul's robe. 5 And afterward David's heart struck him, because he had cut off a corner of Saul's robe. 6 He said to his men, “The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord's anointed, to put out my hand against him, seeing he is the Lord's anointed.” 7 So David persuaded his men with these words and did not permit them to attack Saul. And Saul rose up and left the cave and went on his way.

Hi,

I saw a thread like this at another forum and thought I’d start one here.

Simply share whatever Bible verses come to mind or whatever you feel like sharing in the moment.

Godspeed.

Here are my Bible verses:

Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV) 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
It's a model prayer and gives definition as to how we should pray to God. When a person doesn't know what to say, they can say this and even agnostics know this prayer.

Matthew 5:38-40
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[a] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.
Some people take that verse literally.

I first heard this parable cited by a coworker in relation to some employees dissatisfied with their salaries at our client company a decade or two ago.

Matthew 20
New International Version
The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard
20 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius[a] for the day and sent them into his vineyard.

3 “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5 So they went.

“He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’

7 “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered.

“He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’

8 “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’

9 “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12 ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’

13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’

16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”

John 19:11 (ESV)
Jesus answered him, “You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above. Therefore he who delivered me over to you has the greater sin.”

Matthew 5:2-11 (ESV)

The Beatitudes
2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons[a] of God.

10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Some people take that verse literally.
If they take this verse literally only, I wonder what they would do with our saying "don't burn your bridges" or our saying "don't cut off you nose to spite your face".

Of course at the time that was put in scripture a hand was cut off for stealing an apple in the pagan nations.

Are you calling Pagans stupid? If so, you are right. I was once a Pagan and I no longer am, Thanks be to God.

I am sure nobody cut off anybody's hand for stealing an apple though. Never heard or seen that in my life despite being a Pagan participant and organizer in Punk concerts, Rock & Roll rooftop parties, and Occult Art Shows in shady neighborhoods in Chicago back in the day. Besides, if you were to follow eye for eye and tooth for tooth literally, stealing an apple means you gotta steal an apple too in return.

Matthew 6:28-33 (NET)

28 Why do you worry about clothing? Think about how the flowers[ao] of the field grow; they do not work[ap] or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these! 30 And if this is how God clothes the wild grass,[aq] which is here today and tomorrow is tossed into the fire to heat the oven,[ar] won’t he clothe you even more,[as] you people of little faith? 31 So then, don’t worry saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ 32 For the unconverted[at] pursue these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But above all pursue his kingdom[au] and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Psalm 137:7-9
Remember, O Lord, against the sons of Edom
The day of Jerusalem,
Who said, “Raze it, raze it
To its very foundation.”
8 O daughter of Babylon, you [g]devastated one,
How blessed will be the one who repays you
With [h]the recompense with which you have repaid us.
9 How blessed will be the one who seizes and dashes your little ones
Against the rock.

Ecclesiastes 10:2-3 (NET)

2 A wise person’s good sense protects him,[e]
but a fool’s lack of sense leaves him vulnerable.[f]
3 Even when a fool walks along the road he lacks sense,[g]
and shows[h] everyone what a fool he is.[i]
