what are out attitudes towards help...are we helpful, helpless, or self-helpers. Maybe a mixture? where does our help come from?
Are are we no help at all?

Has anyone read the childrens story of the little red hen. she goes around asking all the animls to help her bake some bread, but all of them refuse. she ends up making the bread herself, then doesnt let anyone else eat it because they didnt help.

I often think theres something disinegenous about this story. Does she actually NEED any help since it seems she can do it by herself anyway? Maybe the animals were just honest in saying they couldnt help her as they might get a scolding if they do it wrong. Maybe they actually had more important things to do.

was the little red hen then justified in guilt tripping the other animals for not dropping everything to help? It was only bread not like her life was in danger. Did she even say well if you help me you can eat some as well?

your thoughts on help...exhausting, necessary, or yes I love to help people all the time, thats what I live for...even when they dont ask for it.
Is helping adequately rewarded anyway? Or would you do it even with no reward?

I don't mind helping, I don't personally like asking for help.

I always ask for help on the helpline if I find cant do something in my job. If im stuck for example. If I dont ask for help then I dont learn anything.

Some people are too proud to ask for help and then try and do everything themselves, but then find they do things the hard way. I find that with children, as I encourage them to ask an adult or their teacher for help...there shouldnt be any shame in it to ask for help to do something they are not sure how to do. Who wants to stay in ignorance? But it seems some people do...

If you are capable and confident then you dont need to ask anyone for help, but dont go asking anyone who cant help you. I guess you need to find the right person who is willing to help and can help. Trial and error works to a certain point but its not the best way to do things...

A good helper assists you but doesnt do all the work ie, you cannot ask a helper to do your job or homework for you. Some people think that is what help means but its not.

Doesn't Scripture say that those who don't work don't eat? Something like that?

Maybe the little red hen was seeking to unite the animals in a common cause that would benefit all of them?

Asking for help can be very humbling, it forces us to admit we can't do things on our own. Being asked for help can be sacrificial, because by nature we're very self-centered.

At the root of both sides is God. God opposes the proud, and at times we may need to drop our pride, humble ourselves, and ask for help. On the other side, God wants us to love our neighbor, and we may have to drop our self interest and take on the interests of others.

hmm she wasnt asking the animals to work, just help her and not offering payment ether but I suppose you could view it that way.

Maybe they wanted to make bread themselves later I dont know.
all I know is now, people are so lazy they dont bother to make their own bread, it just gets made in a bakery or factory by other people and or machines and they just buy it.
factory made bread is so tasteless that I wonder why anyone would want to buy it when they could have fresh bread.

true..I guess the hardest thing is when your offer to help is refused all the time. or when you do ask for help and you are not really helped.

an example of this is say you are looking for a job and you go ask for help and all the agency does is say well heres some job offers apply with ten zillion other people. you go and apply, waiting for months and months and meantime you have barely enough to eat waiting for the next job.

ok it seems people dont really want help.
the annoying thing is though when people dont ask and just assume that just cos you are round that you will help, but if you do offer to help they then start ordering you around.

i thought this would get more replies on here though since singles are supoosedly more in need of help than other people judging by the number of matchmaking posts, but I feel like nobodys really being honest in saying they need help. (a wife, is defined in the Bible is a helpmeet or helper)

the reality is if you are a wife you are on call 24/7 to be a help to your husband. do you really want to be that cos if that is your role that doesnt leave much time for anything else. When you have children they will take up all your time as well, as everyone needs meals three times a day and clean clothes, but I think its now occured to people that they can do the things for themselves without needing a wife or housewife.

from what I know of wives there are two types, those who complain and those who dont. You never hear the end of it when theres a wife and mother who complains about being a helper. Do I want to be that person well, I think if you marry then youve got to be prepared for that kind of life.

maybe its just living in close quarters with desperate housewives that has me thinking. why marry. its miserable, day after day. are there any perks at all?!

I like to do things for others without expecting anything back, i giving to the beggar. there is a sense of relief that i did something good for the homeless, in due time the rewards will come. When we give to the poor, God owes us blessings. I think the bible says that. When we give to others, we are giving to God.

hmm good point
wives dont get paid for the job they do in helping their husband or looking after children so I wonder maybe thats why some women only want to marry really wealthy men. At least they will get to live in a nicer house and maybe have better food. Some richer women may marry poorer men but I havent really heard of that, maybe God rewards them for that later I dont know.

The real question is did she use her own eggs when making the bread. That would be pretty gross using your own product as
cooking ingredients and then eating it.
