I've heard certain people in the past interpret 1 John 1:9 in such a way to imply that we must "confess each sin that we commit as we commit them" (keep a specific inventory) as an "additional requirement" to "remain cleansed" and if we forget a sin we are toast!
Hope their not right or I'm 'screwed'. (can you say 'screwed' on here).

I guess there is yet another unforgivable sin and another work I must perform to be saved ;). It's like walking through a minefield.

Aside: I don't believe it to be true, but I hope the UNIVERSALISTS doctrine is the right one. :D

Syntax and Parallel are still someone's opinion. Compare it to other similar versions and you find several differences.
My point was simply that the Holy Spirit guided my ancestors to what God was revealing to them in their simplistic lives. We do not all have to be professors of linguistics, Arabic, Greek language. I admire those who do so but God will reveal His message in His own way to His own people.

I never knew how being born again for some,seems to be so complicated.

It must be awful not to have that security in the Lord.....I’m just glad he testified to my spirit that I was his child....nothing complicated.....Praise God!

Yes it happens. There are such things as LIFE PRESERVERS whereby one throws the ring to the drowning person to pull them to safety if one can not safely enter and leave the water. I did Red Cross Life Guard training and there are also other apparatus devises whereby the person needs to exercise themselves to be saved.

Surprised you never heard of a life preserver.
Still not the scenario that was presented

God offered us a very simply way to become united with Him again. Those who complicate it are those who are like the Pharisees and the Sadducees. They try and legalize what God has made simple.

The Million Dollar Question:
Definition of work: activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result.

Given: You believe that you of your own free will must believe (mental effort) to be saved (to achieve a result)
Question: How do you explain that you do NO WORK in order to be saved??????

... and that question is but one of many .... like ... how do you explain:

John 1:12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God[talking salvation here], that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name— 13 who were born, not of blood [natural conception], nor of the will of the flesh [physical impulse], nor of the will of man [that of a natural father], but of God [that is, a divine and supernatural birth—they are born of God—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified].

John 6:29 Jesus answered, “This is the work of God: that you believe [adhere to, trust in, rely on, and have faith] in the One whom He has sent.” [works] Clearly this verse defines “faith” as a work. Thus faith must originate from God since God’s grace does not include man works (Galatians 5:2).

Mental effort saves no one.

Belief is not mental effort... we cannot force ourselves to believe something we know is untrue.

As for the rest I have never heard faith as "work" that God does ... but rather a gift.

So I have posed the question to @dcontroversal .. I am not about to fall into your cleverly designed traps.

You are saved according to some English Translation.
Yes!

Because my English translation has put God’s voice into a language I can understand.

Romans 10:17
[17] So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

But He chose you over others correct?

Others are just at meritless?
He is the potter, I am the clay. He molds some to be vessels of beauty and others as toilet bowls. I take no credit for what He has done.

Romans 9:21 Does the potter not have the right over the clay, to make from the same lump [of clay] one object for honorable use [something beautiful or distinctive] and another for common use [something ordinary or menial]? 22 What if God, although willing to show His [terrible] wrath and to make His power known, has tolerated with great patience the objects of His wrath [which are] prepared for destruction? 23 And what if He has done so to make known the riches of His glory to the objects of His mercy, which He has prepared beforehand for glory,

Genuine believers have not refused to confess and repent and do not have a seared conscience. Also, quenching the Holy Spirit is likened to suppressing fire. When believers do what we know is wrong and are not allowing the Holy Spirit to work through us, we suppress or quench the Holy Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:19-21) Now who has not at times grieved the Holy Spirit? Yet believers are still sealed by the Holy Spirit until the redemption of the purchased possession/unto the day of redemption. (Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30)
So can we conclude those who believe all future sins are forgiven and they need not confess or repent of anything are not genuine Christians?

By the way, seals can be and are easily broken.

You don’t know the Bible we’ll do you? “Don’t quench the Holy Spirit..”
Rejoice always;
pray without ceasing;
in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Do not quench the Spirit;
do not despise prophetic utterances.
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;
abstain from every form of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 (NASB)

Well there are many, but where does it mention repentance/contrition for sin here?

So which one?

It is not merit when you give 100 % trust in someone else
If it is not merit, why do you put in the sentence something YOU must do; specifically, YOU must TRUST 100% so that God will do whatever.

Your faith is based on YOU TRUSTING, a WORK, salvation by WORKS which is the topic at hand.

Work definition: activity involving mental or physical effort [you trusting] done in order to achieve a purpose or result [for salvation, to please God].

You really believe you can damage other people in your sin and repentance or grief for what you did is not a part of the christian walk? Jesus told Peter to forgive those who repent and ask forgiveness 70x7 times. He also taught if you bring a gift to God and remember someone has something against you, to and make it right (settle it.) Shall I look up all the places where repent is preached? You really thing God cares not what your sin does to others?

Just because you do not like our answers does not mean we do Not answer

Do I need to start taking a list of times you have been answered yet demand you have not?
I don't recall listing your name as one who does not answer. But, to be clear, you do take the time to answer my questions in a civil way.

You cannot say the one being saved from drowning does nothing or they’re not really drowning. That is simply not true in cases of rescuing a drowning person. That is the senerio but you don’t like to be wrong. I know about drowning both from almost and taking training. Your wrong.

Exactly! He teaches that God chose him because he chose God. Since God saw he would do that he teaches God elected him because of it. That is merit, not grace. Again, grace is unmerited favor. :)
