I wanted to make this thread because I was reminded of this yesterday when I rewatched a childhood movie of mine called cloudy with a chance of meatballs, abnormal I know but then again I myself am abnorrnal.
So I know there are plenty of scriptures declaring how evil and how corrupt the human heart is yet even knowing this when I look to the cross I see that Jesus did what he did because even with how far we can go dark God saw something in humans worth going that far for something worth saving and I have seen it in people as well.
In this movie a young scientist and invetor is made fun of for his inventions and is about to give up but his mom comes and explains to him how the world needs his kind of thinking and creativity how she knows he will grow up do to great things and the little kids eyes light up and he believes in himself even as an adult with countless failures in his inventing and even with his dad not believing in him at all and trying to force him to give up he believes in himself because of that one conversation with his mom who sadly passed away.
This was a subtle yet powerful moment that is often overlooked as just a mother being a mother. We have this notion that only when one is saved is good placed in the human heart yet if that were true then there would be nothing worth saving. We don't see with his eyes so we often times overlook all the subtle yet powerful things he sees in the human spirit and heart because that is how he works he doesn't boast with powerful and major ways of showing the beauty of his work he uses subtle and seemingly simple ways to show it.
People walk past flowers and see just a flower sure it's pretty but big deal right? people see a little stream of water that glistens in the sunlight and just keep walking not seeing anything special in it but things like this that are so often overlooked are exactly where his message is. That simple flower is pretty and they have short lives but this is exactly how we are as well, we shine and yet even the flower understands his message better than we do. The flower doesn't compare itself to another flower rather it shines forth its beauty the best it can even with it's short lived life and when it fades away it's remains bring forth new life. The stream of water flows and glistens in the sunlight reflecting the beauty of the sun or if you will (son) ( come on you gotta admit that was clever XD)
I have seen people who aren't even Christians show such beauty and strength, The way a mother has this natural caring and understanding for her children who like a mamma swan is pretty to look at but mess with her chicks and you better run. How childhood friends can grow up in a bad kind of life being bullied and treated badly at school even having their own parents not understand them but then the scene switches to them having their own little world in a tree house or a tent in their rooms at sleep overs laughinf and having the time of their lives.
How a man can go to work treated badly there by his boss overlooked as just another worker with nothing going for him but returns home like a hero to his family because of the love that is in that household. How a women will will go through pregnacy and lets be honest honest not always be the best company to be around- you know hormones and such XD and not even be sure if she is fit to be a mom not even sure she wants her child and considers putting it up for adoption especially since she was pregnant from rape but when that child is born she takes one look at this new baby and something just clicks she is in love with this little thing her natural instincts just activate.
These are only a few examples of what I am talking about but I am sure some of you can relate to them, the reason I make this thread is because I want us to really take it to heart, to see with different eyes-his eyes. Instead of looking for him or miracles in big things or obvious things look for them in the small and subtle things change your way of understanding and ways of seeing and thinking into a more subtle yet profound way
