May I have a scorpion?

Matthew 7
7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
7:9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
7:10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Matthew 7 reveals to us some of the characteristics of our Heavenly Father. Our Fathers desires to give us good things, and in His good timing, He shall.


James 4
4:1 From whence [come] wars and fightings among you? [come they] not hence, [even] of your lusts that war in your members?
4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume [it] upon your lusts.

James 4 provides us a mirror which reveals to us our own nature, and explains why God will not give us everything we ask for whenever we ask for it.

I can think of some very foolish things I have asked God for in the past. I am so glad that He said "NO". (and no, I will never tell you what they were.)

This reminds me of how before I went through my horrible ordeal with my eyes I was walking and talking to God and of course with my hunger for him feeling as if he was starving me I said to him if it means being able to truly find you then I want you to take me directly into the storm because I know at the end of the dark tunnel I will find you there. No sooner had I asked that things began to go bad for me I still have not fully healed my eyes and are sown shut to be able to heal better by 60% so I am legally blind.
Granted through this ordeal I had to learn how to purposely choose to trust him and not trust him by intinct alone and I did grow in this time as well but I wonder if what I asked for was from my own stupidity or a part of his plan

Well maybe instead of eating them if their venom works the same as snakes then we can just extract it and turn it into medicine. While snakes venom is deadly it also has amazing healing properties sooooo maybe we can do that with scorpions? people do eat them though they even make chocolate covered ones or fried ones and well... eww-just eww

I prayed for my beloved 8 years ago after watching a documentary about Soul mates, he sent her alright, a narcissist, I assumed he sent me a scorpion or an asp, now after prayer this morning I am told she is indeed the one and I am to wait on the lord, she is a work in progress. It goes to show what you sometimes pray for doesn't appear straight away, and it is not what you expected. This lady is much younger than me, I never used to be attracted to younger women, always much older. To summarise, pray fervently, and wait on the lord, his ways are not your ways.

I have asked God going on 10 years for something specific that would release me and set me free of the circumstances I am bound to (it's not marriage/relationship related btw).

Ironically, my situation within this circumstance over the years has grown to become more like a prison. It's like feeling the walls closing in on me. I have no idea why God has not chosen to intervene on my behalf. The benefit of this circumstance is, I have become fully dependant upon God. And He has used me in ways, that without this circumstance, I would not be able to be used. I also have no doubts that once this trial has ended, God will use me in other ways.

But this circumstance has crippled me (not physically) and has broken me and I have cried out to God for Him to intervene. I am persuaded to follow God no matter what. I am persuaded to run and finish my Race. I am tired and worn out. I somehow get up every day and find reasons how Wonderful God is even within this prison of my circumstance. I truly believe God will not put upon me what I am not able handle even with me fully dependant upon God. Both Spiritually and emotionally I have never suffered like this before. If this is God's way of keeping me in the fold, then I am grateful to Him. But the weight of my circumstance is growing unbearable. I cry myself to sleep nightly begging and asking God why won't He release me of this burden.

God has opened doors, allowed my knowledge to increase, my understanding to become hundred fold, and my Faith to reach heights that sound unrealistic. But in it all, I am still completely trapped. I very well could go to my grave one day still suffering. I don't know. I just know the pain is real, the heartache is severe, the battle has no end in sight. But I won't stop Trusting in God! I won't stop seeking God, I won't stop listening to God. I won't stop depending upon Him. I need Him more as each second passes by. And every day I awaken is another day to give Him the Praise and Glory He deserves. I really don't know how I am surviving without Him. Because this is unbearable.

It is never a good idea to open a can of worms. You just might discover a scorpion.

I like this, this is a very good points and passages. Praise Jesus for he sustains the righteous and the Father knows what we really need.

In Luke it says it a little different and I like the extra details.

That the asking, seeking, knocking and ultimately receiving is about the Holy Spirit. Isn't that awesome?
