Hello, all! I recently came across this video on YouTube by a man named Pastor Anderson. I have seen some of his other videos before, and quite frankly, they've disturbed me. This thread is not so much about him personally; I am curious to know what people's responses, reactions, and thoughts are on the video, the story of Dinah [Genesis 34], and what it means. To me, though, his take on Dinah was much more than just an interpretation of the story; it incorporated more his thoughts on women's roles. Do you agree with his statements? If so, can you provide Scripture to justify your argument?

I am SO SO curious to know what you all think about this. Maybe I am crazy, but I this really shook me to my core that he was preaching this on a pulpit. Let me know your thoughts, brothers and sisters. God bless!

P.S. ~ the topic at hand could get controversial, so please please please KEEP IT NICE. it is completely okay to have differing opinions. please don't bash or insult the pastor; that is not what my intention was in striating this thread.

Sorry I didn't watch the whole video, he's talking too much nonsense. I have a feeling that because of this fool's words, his daughters might become pregnant as teens and make him a ridicule (because that's how it usually goes when people talk arrogantly like him). And it sounds a very stupid idea to teach kids that dad will pay for everything then husband will be paying (where's the accountability and teaching them to contribute). What a recipe to bring up spoiled brats. Just because a homemaker woman is praised in the Bible, doesn't mean some don't have other callings and that they aren't praised also. Lydia was a businesswoman, Deborah was a judge, Priscilla was a teacher. He is preaching out of his own complexes don't even bother listening to this dude...

He is focusing on the corrupted husband seen. Not Christ the first born our un-unseen bloody husband the first born because of circummsion. .

Seeing we are to know no man ( person) after the flesh, (2 Corinthians 5:16) . Both men a women submit to His love by faith .

Men are to give them a visual reminder to look up. Husbands must decrease in a hope that the wives would increase their faith towards our bloody Husband .

Amen and also the example of a Godly woman in Proverbs 31 was a woman who bought and sold, and made profit😊👌

If this scripture teaches a lesson on women's roles, doesn't it also follow that it teaches a lesson on ensuring all males in a household are circumcised before letting your daughters visit? If the latter is absurd, isn't the former also?

I don't disagree with all this pastor says. Women are the weaker vessel, this is true, and Eve was deceived by the devil. I don't think it is good to give daughters complete independence, but it does sound like he is really going overboard.

What is the most absurd is him thinking that he can stop his daughters. If their mind is set on fornication, they will do it even if he locks them in a high castle and puts a water ditch around them. Which is why I said he was a fool (to be distinguished from Biblical "raca" that actually means worthless and which I don't say). It also worries me how he seems to believe that a woman without her virginity has less value like she is a damaged commodity and saying how he will "present her" to husband, it reminds me of Muslim lollipop women analogies, of course waiting for marriage is a very good thing, but just a hymen in place does not necessarily mean a pure heart or lack of sexual misconduct! Daughters of people like this often rebel, unless they are stuck in some isolated community.

It's not good to give a child too much independence, period, male or female, a child needs to be looked at closely and parent needs to know who is the child spending time with and where is he or she going. Sons that are too independent may end up with very wrong company, start doing drugs or other stupid challenges like stealing something for a dare and slip into criminal. Every parent worth their salt is vigilant. But it really looks like he is controlling and has ego issues.

I can understand this to a degree, as it is my view that when a woman becomes one flesh with a man, that is like a marriage covenant. Not that women should be regarded as property, but if a woman has had sex with a man, for someone else to marry her, it is similar to adultery for him - taking another man's wife. Just as circumcising the foreskin was the sign of God's covenant with Abraham in males and could only be done once, the loss of the hymen has historically been seen as a woman entering into a blood covenant with her husband, and likewise could be done once.

Daughters of people like this often rebel, unless they are stuck in some isolated community.
Yeah, but I think this guy is preaching the "isolated community" thing! Sad.

Everyone, I do not follow him, listen to him, nor do I consistently watch him. I just stumbled upon the video and was curious to know what people thought about it.

I completely agree with this!! I really just wanted to see if other people saw this the same way as I did, because I didn't know if I was crazy for feeling somewhat outraged by this.

This is one of my favorite parts of Scripture; I think he needs to read through that!!
I agree with this point; maybe this is the wrong mindset to have, but I also feel like there should be a balance between parenting your child and leading/guiding them in the way of Christ and completely controlling them. Yes, it is a parent's responsibility to monitor their child and hold them accountable, but at some point or another, they are their own person and should be held responsible for their actions as naturally sinful people. It was almost like he was saying that if they mess up, it is his fault, so that means he needs to control them. I disagree; I feel like company matters and the people you are around surely influence you [1 Cor. 15:33], but at the end of the day, everyone slips up, everyone faces sin, everyone is tested; it seems a bit overboard to shelter your child to prevent them from seeing the world - everyone needs to encounter it at some point.
This will appeal to certain men, the guy laughing in the background is one.
I was appalled by the man laughing!

Thank you for everyone's feedback so far -just wanted to gage if this man's preaching was normal or not to you all. God bless.

He does say some basic truths about the differences between men and women. But what a twisting of the true concepts. His view of women is weak, inept, and cruel!

I want my wife to respect, honor, and submit, but this guy almost teaches wives as being inept slaves to husbands.

If I am being honest, I’d like to hear his wife’s perspective on their relationship. His idea of absolute reliance on him instead of God is questionable. They are two wholes becoming one, and this idea of him being the “head” with absolute authority, puts into question the plea of the Bible for the women to submit (i.e., be gently persuaded) on matters. Notice conversation is taking place, persuasion, and the man’s job here is clearly to discuss the matter. It’s not his say so, and that’s it.

There is a lot of macho talk here, and I suppose he forgot to read Proverbs 31. A virtuous woman. She barters, she trades, she buys land, and grows a vineyard. She sells merchandise. It would seem to me, that a woman doing all of this is not dependent on him or unskilled, uneducated in finance, or business.

How he chooses to raise his daughters is important, but teaching them about the consequences to their actions will be far more beneficial than forbidding them to be social or hiding them from society. Sin and temptation are around us. That’s why we need God, He sanctifies us and purifies. He needs to teach them to love the light, to be about righteousness. Show them the cost of sin. Look what happens to people who entertain it. You COULD do that, but WHY would you?

I am sure there is much to be said on this and this is by no means comprehensive. The point is, raise your children in righteousness and to love God, to know Him. Show them what living in the light looks like. Peace, love, and joy.

I haven't watched the video but based on the views of those that have I would have to say that the guy is a totally naïve whack job in regards to parental advice.

This is the problem with topical teaching, he is trying to show horn his ideas into the Bible via subject teaching. It's best to let scripture say what it says and not impose our mind upon it.
