Jesus cannot compromise his perfect, holy standard so of course He is going to say, “go and sin no more.” Did you really expect Jesus to say go and just sin a little bit?
Did you miss my post about how Christ said that a believer will do the same works, and greater, than his works?

No.

If you were sincere in asking the question I would have no trouble at all in answering this easy question.

But I perceive that you cannot handle the truth.

I posted a link to my answer, by the way.
I was very sincere. After going to the post through your link you appear to be saying that you do not willfully sin, but don’t claim to be sinless 100% of the time. Is that correct?

Mailman, it's in the post I linked to. That post is correct.

I have not changed my answer.

I apologize for questioning your sincerity. It's been a long day.

It’s hard for believers that have the same heart issues of the elder brother of the prodigal son to believe that Father would welcome His prodigal back home with great joy.......
If I was in any way like the Prodigal Son's older brother I wouldn't care that people know the truth about falling away from faith in Christ and being lost.

But as it is, I'm calling prodigals, and potential prodigals, back to faith in Christ and in the process heaping up reward for myself, the reward being the person themselves. That's not exactly the attitude of the older brother of the Prodigal.

But the new osas thinks it's doing good by telling prodigals all is good while you're in the land of prostitutes and pig farms, not realizing the Prodigal had to come home in order to not be dead and lost anymore.

"24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ - Luke 15:24
Even while "dead and lost" - STILL ALWAYS A SON. Did you notice the Father STILL called him "son of mine"?

@Judges1318 - It's nice to know that you are concerned about prodigal sons and daughters and are calling them back home to faith in Christ, instead of judging and condemning them.

I do think you have misunderstood what OSAS is telling prodigals.

We're not saying all is good with them while they have ran back into the world and riotous living, on the contrary, things are bad for them because they're going to experience unnecessary pain and suffering because they're following their "flesh" instead of the Spirit.

They have not lost their "sonship" - they are born again - a child of God - they can never be unborn.

When a person receives the Gift of Salvation by receiving the Blood and Body of Christ, they are also sealed with God's Holy Spirit and born again. The believer NEVER stops being a child to the Father. Once "born again" ALWAYS "born again" - ALWAYS a Child of God.

Prodigals that leave the Faith in Christ to run after the world ALWAYS hit rock bottom and eventually realize there is nothing in this world that compares to Father's House, they have tasted and know that the Lord is good and the world is not.

The Father CONTINUES to call them "son," not "servant." The Father places His robe and ring on the prodigal son, not because of ANY works that the son did to receive them - just because of WHO the Father is and the son was "born" to Him.

What would you say to a prodigal son or daughter?

I LOVE this thread. To me it is the most important one on this site. Giving out the Truth of God's Word is needed in a world filled with deceptive preaching. Being able to show false doctrine for what it is has a high importance to Christians. Showing that man cannot earn, hold onto, keep what only God Almighty has provided is the basis of being a Christian.

I absolutely agree.:)

I learn as a lot as well....because there is always some new twist to repudiate.

Don't You even know WHY HE said, "a Believer will do greater works!"

JESUS Raised people from the Dead, yet they died again, yet a Believers works of Witnessing, can lead them to ETERNAL LIFE.

Jesus told two people to stop sinning.

Who's going to make Jesus a liar now?
I am wondering why He only told two people?
Of course they must have been the only two sinners!!
PLAIN reading tells me only those two people had to stop sinning.

I do not make Jesus a liar.... but "your plain reading" makes a disaster of scripture.

What does "my plain reading" mean?

How can I, or anyone, make a disaster of scripture by seeking to follow them?

Stand in awe, and do not sin (Psalm 4:4).

Abstain from all appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22).

Were passages like these written in vain?

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake (Philippians 1:29). For he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin (1 Peter 4:1). Because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow in his steps: who did no sin (1 Peter 2:21). If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me (Matthew 16:24). [because] My sheep hear my voice...and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish (John 10:27-28).

Comparing scripture with scripture reveals the full context of salvation.

  • Believe
  • Follow
  • Suffer/Take up cross
  • Cease from sin
  • Never Perish

The prodigal can not be in the land of prostitutes and pig farms when Jesus returns and expect to be saved.
