Galatians 5: 22,23. lists the Fruits.
Fruit of the Spirit. Key word is Spirit. This is great compass to use to determine are we walking in the right direction within our faith. The closer we abide, the more productive or the yield of fruit should be. If we are quenching the living water then our fruit will begin to shrivel or produce less.

We obtain it through our obedience and reliance on the Spirit. We maintain it as we abide in the Spirit. We do not quench or grieve it. We hear it, we listen, and we allow it to work in us.

Galatians 5: 22,23. lists the Fruits.
Here's my approach to walking in the Spirit. = maintaining the fruit of the Spirit.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Corinthians 10:5) (KJV 1900)

We censor every impure thought or imagination. And change the channel in our thinking on any thought that does not conform to obedience to Christ.

And we replace it with:

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

Knowing Jesus is God and God is love. So Jesus is Lord of our lives when love rules our thoughts and actions.

John 15v1

I Am the vine, and my father is the Vine dresser.
Any branch in me that does not bear fruit he cuts away, (trims off) and he cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit.

We all know that "fruit" is a produce of a tree (or vine) that it sprouts and grows from the vine it is connected to... That without the vine there would of course be no fruit.
Now, I think fruit can be anything we produce in our lives spiritual or physical based on what vine we are connected to... Spiritual or physical..

Romans 6v8 states the Mind of the flesh is death but the mind of the spirit is life and peace... Death is a "fruit" of the flesh, Life and peace is a "fruit" of the spirit..

So how do we obtain the fruits of the spirit? This is simple- By connecting with the true vine- which is Jesus... Who upon salvation gifts us with every spiritual blessing..

So here we are now, Just come to the Lord.. We understand he has saved us through his great love and mercy and has given us this new life with all of its blessings and see through scripture he has given us the Holy spirit with all of these beautiful juicy fruits but for some reason everything we think feel and do is anything but joy, peace, patience, kindness goodness self control etc.... I was totally in confusion and frustration for years.. (still am very much a work in progress!)

if I have obtained the Holy spirit and the fruits of through my salvation then how do I maintain and see the manifestation 0f these fruits in my life ?! Key word here is to "abide" or "remain" connected to the vine... How? By remaining in his words and his teachings (john 8v31-32) By holding steadfast to the promises of God and his word of truth... See when we list all the fruits of the spirit we will see that they are all products of our faith in him... I'm going to use self control for example.. We may naturally have no self control and may want to reach for every slice of cake we see and actually feel anything other than self control, but going back to the word of truth is vital here.. Jesus said "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (philippians 4v13) and that "no temptation has come upon me that he has not provided a way out of"(1 Corinth 10v13)...

So, contrary to what I feel (my flesh) which we know is death when we sow into it we go back to the word of truth which Jesus says when we know it will set us free and see that actually I have been given self control as a gift by the Holy spirit and its the word of God and knowing the truth about it that is key in maintaining and developing the gifts of the spirit...

I hope this makes sense... I can waffle on sometimes haha. Bless you all xxxxxxx

Basically there are two parts to men, flesh and spirit. The flesh has the carnal desires for survival and reproduction. When we entertain these desires it releases serotonin. The greater the pleasure and comfort, the greater the serotonin surge and the more addictive it becomes. Most people live to satisfy these urges of the flesh. They are what make us selfish and fearful (when we lack them). Essentially this causes desire. Desire is the precursor to sin. The Spirit is what radiates from God connecting Him to all of creation. When we are in tuned to the frequency we “feel” the big picture. We are part of the Body and are concerned for its betterment. We understand that we are not individual but we are singular. Walking in the spirit is being the bodypart you are called to be. The hand doesn’t take credit for painting a masterpiece. It is just connected to the arm that moves it and the torso that supports it, getting information from the eye that sees it. All are working together producing the will originated in the Head, our Lord, Christ. The magnum opus being achieved is love. If you are in this Body, this vine, walking in the Spirit then this is the fruit you will produce.

The LATTER part of Romans 14: 17. (The kingdom of God is, righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost). To live consistently in this mature state, is to have done the other six fruits on a consistent basis. For example, if we list the fruits of the Spirit, and the top three fruits are the Kingdom of God living, the other six fruits represent the means by which we get there. Note the Starting place is self control, at the bottom of the list. Next is meekness, (for if we give our will to God, then humility or meekness will allow us to proceed further). Thus, when we see God's hand changing our inner man, our faith takes on more maturity. Next, is goodness, that is, the choices we now give priority to, are becoming more consistent in our lives. Then gentleness, which is non- confrontational. Lastly, loooog suffering, which is patience in times of temptations and trials, as we go through them successfully. Kingdom of God living comes naturally after these six are in place. All this fruit is consistent with obedience to the truth of God's word. If the fruit is withering, or not evident, self control is usually at the beginning of, and cause.
