In this image we examine the contrast between where the light of the coming sunrise is hitting and where the darkness still lingers.
Do you see the coming sunrise in your life? Are you still in the dark? Have hope for the light is coming.
Psalm 91:5-7 New International Version (NIV)
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
Do not fear is listed in scripture atleast 365 times.
But God isn't just sitting by watching as a deistic deity. God in Spirit is moving within the dark.
Psalm 139:12 New International Version (NIV)
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.
We are to be beacons of light, hope, joy, love, and faith in the source that provides us the light. Darkness can only hide from light within the shadows they run.
Luke 1:79 New International Version (NIV)
79 to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
We are ( I ) am to shine on those living in darkness and being overwhelmed by the shadows surrounding death. To guide others down the path of peace.
The same peace Jesus portrayed while asleep during the great storm on the sea. The peace Jesus gained after praying so intensely he sweated blood but ultimately knew the cross was worth the sacrifice. The peace that Daniel had in the lions den or the child David facing a giant well seasoned warrior. The same peace as Stephen was being stoned he looked up to Heaven and saw Jesus as he departed his physical life.
The shadows on the hills slowly recede as the light rises over the horizon. You can see the glow. Faithfully we know the morning always follows the night. Faithfully we hold to the hope of a brighter future. As our ancestors before us survived, fought, bleed, and died holding to such a thing as hope for a brighter future even as the present looked grim.
But for us who put our faith in Jesus Christ even if the material realm of this physical reality ultimately ends in destruction, the soul lives on for eternity.
