The 7 Feasts of the Lord (Lev 23): 1)Passover, 2)Unleavened Bread, 3)Firstfruits, 4)Pentecost, 5)Rosh Hashanah/Trumpets 6)Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement 7)Tabernacles
The first 4 Feasts are referred to as the Spring Feasts and point to His 1st coming.
Jesus died on Passover, was buried during Unleavened Bread, rose on Firstfruits & sent the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.
The Last 3 Feasts point to the Lords 2nd coming.
The Firstfruits feast began while wandering in the wilderness, owning no land or crops. The people partook by faith that God would lead them to the promised land. It was forbidden to eat from the crop fields until the sheaf offering had been lifted up unto the LORD (Lev 23:14).
FIRSTFRUITS
Lev 23:9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:
(NOTE: The Lord tells Moses to have the children of Israel bring a SHEAF/blossom bundle of the FIRSTFRUITS of your harvest to the priest)
11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.
(NOTE: The LORD say's, on the 1st day of the week. Have the priest bring the SHEAF/blossom bundle & WAVE/lift it up unto/before the Lord. A shadow of Christ being lifted-up from the grave)
The Omer (sheaf) wave offering of the barley harvest begins a 50 day count down to Pentecost when the field is harvested.
A sheaf, of 1st blossoms of the 1st grains gathered. The priest (starting at the waist) is to lifted-up (over his head) & wave the sheaf before God. This action acknowledged & dedicated the coming harvest to the LORD. This wave/offering before/onto the LORD, sanctified the whole feild of harvest to come. Christ was RAISED-UP the day of Firstfruits. Christ's firstfruit resurrection sets the stage for the entire human race to be resurrected.
A day of resurrection/reckoning awaits every person that ever lives. The question becomes; where will you spend eternity. With/in the presents of God our Creator. Or seperated from, the presents of God.
1 Cor 15:
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 (B) Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
John 11:
25 Jesus said; I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
Jesus brought a Firstfuits resurrection wave offering to the Father, from the grave:
Matt 27:
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
(NOTE: Christ 1st, then many saints whom had died rose)
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
(NOTE: Christ 1st, then many saints whom had died rose)
Jesus resurrection is Father's the stamp of approval/receipt. That Jesus Sin Atoning Payment was received & accepted.
Anyone that will place their faith/belief in Jesus death, burial & resurrection (1 Cor 15:1-4) is promised eternal life with/in the presents of our creator God.
2 Corinthians 6:2 (B) Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Other fristfruit shadows:
The almond is the first spring fruit to blossom.
Aaron’s rod budded "almond blossoms" & also ended up producing almonds.
Ex 25:33-34, God tells Moses to make a candlestick like unto almonds:
The Tabernacle/Temple golden lamp stand/MENORAH (only source of light in the holy place) Had 6 sides arms with 3 golden almond blossoms another 4 on the center shaft, there were 22 almond blossoms on.
Gen 43:11, the almond is described as the best of fruits
Ex 37:19-20, Moses is told that the candle holders should be shaped like an almond blossom
Num 17:8 and Hebrews 9:4, Aaron's rod sprouts sweet almonds
Jer 1:11-12, The almond tree as a symbol of God's watchfulness: Jeremiah say's, "I see an almond tree," God says,"You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled. This post is My Opinion Only.
