When cancelling our trip, we were able to get a refund from Carnival (though not a full refund) + a 50% credit toward a future cruise within the next year. When I called Southwest Airlines, I must have somehow must have hit a wrong number in a list of numbers and got a hold of a travel agent who books trips through Southwest and other airlines and when I told him that I needed to cancel our upcoming flight with Southwest, he dishonestly led me to believe that he was with Southwest, then proceeded to tell me that he successfully cancelled our flight and we will receive a full refund. He was very polite and sounded very convincing.
At first I was thrilled, then an hour later he called me back and said I need to call my bank because my credit card has been declined to allow him to put the credit for the cancellation back on my card. Well, it turns out that is not what he was doing. Instead, he was trying to charge us for the same flight all over again! Our bank immediately red flagged it and I received a
Security Alert: Unusual credit card activity detected. My credit card was not charged/payment was not made and I called my bank explaining to them that this travel agent was trying to rip us off. They blocked him and we are now receiving new credit cards just to be safe. No harm done, thank God! I will certainly be more careful in the future!
