Don’t focus on your enemies; fix your eyes on Jesus!

  • “Jehovah has done what He has purposed; He has fulfilled His Word which He commanded from the days of old. He has thrown down and not pitied. And He caused your hater to rejoice over you; He has set up the horn of your foes.” (Lamentations 2.17).

When someone sins against us, our lean is to come in for grudge, desire for reprisal, etc. When, in particular, this person is someone close to us, we are propelled to try to make up with this person by ourselves.

It’s no use trying to sort out some kink with acrimony in our heart. This only will bring nuisance to us (not to mention that this can bring vitriolic criticism). After all, our mouth (and the mouth of the other person) only is able to speak just about what there is in our heart in profuseness (Matthew 12.34,35).

Furthermore, we need to work out what is happened spiritually. Everything that comes about us is the denouement that ensue our spiritual choices. If we aren’t pleasant to Jesus, everything that we espouse will go wrong.

So, first, make amends with Jesus, wait for Him (Psalms 37.7), hear His sweet voice and, only then, at His word, carry out what He says to you (see Luke 5.5). Have a nice Sunday in Christ Jesus meditating in this excerpt:

  • “I waited patiently for Jehovah; and He bowed down to me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet on a rock, and gave sureness to my steps. And *He has put a new song in my mouth, praise to our God*; *many shall see it and fear, and shall trust in Jehovah*.” (Psalms 40.3).

Recall: the important isn’t only to win, but how we win (2Timothy 2.5).

Thank you for this reminder to keep our eyes on Him, the deliverer. We are so blessed with Him. Focusing on loss, on pain, on those who hurt us does nothing but distract us from His grace, that which is sufficient.

Again, thank you. God Bless you.
