There is a plethora of modern praise and worship songs to which I strongly relate. I do like Amazing Grace, of course Though I gravitate much more to more modern expressions of love for God, and His for us I include these two in my welcome message to new members:

I love Amazing Grace.. But i am like you i do not like many self identified Christian songs.. But i do like commercial songs that have clear but hidden Christian themes.. Hiding in plain sight..
Paul Schwartz also does Ave Maria He is well known for taking popular operatic arias and modernizing them to make them more accessible to audiences who may not really like opera He has a few CDs of that type of music titled "Aria" "Aria 2" and "Aria 3" as well as my favorite, which is not arias, but beautiful none-the-less, titled State of Grace, from which the above piece is taken.

Are you familiar with any of the music of Hildegard von Bingen? She was a medieval mystic who had extensive knowledge far ahead of her time, and wrote many songs/chants which have been reproduced by multiple artists. Richard Souther has handled her material much differently than the many others who attempted to reproduce it as they believe it was meant to be, meaning, fairly mono-tonal with perhaps minimal droning instrumentation in the background.
