A wise woman told me the other day, "Don't look to people for what only God can give you". I have thought about this a lot, and realize we ( I especially) do that so often... for validation, comfort, and happiness. I think it's easy to get caught up looking at the world around us and forget that we have EVERYTHING we need if we just simply rest in God's love. Only there is where we find our true identity and the strength to encourage others.

@Natasha91 Totally agree with you, sister. Good article, thanks for sharing it! Wow, that's so true. Most of us are tempted to fill that void inside with other people, but it's the Lord and He alone that can fill us up... We're meant to be cups that overflow, and not empty wells... Help us, Lord! Help us to become givers of love and not needers of love!

Thank you for your supportive Bible help. For sisters and daughters in Christ, that's a way to see the Lord.

Identity in Christ can be seen differently for Christian Brothers and sisters in the Church.

There are some Christian teachings that need sorting out that are related to identity. I recall reading where Paul taught about this saying how Christian brothers, men of God, should see women in the Church. Jesus also referred to the Church as the bride of Christ. There is agape fellowship, and social and spiritual "boundaries" in the Church and in life in general are not always easy to understand.

But identity confusion is not healthy. Valentine's Day has become a day to honor romantic love between a man and woman, but I like how Natasha91 compared her love for Christ as her ultimate valentine.

The original St. Valentine was a Christian martyr who expressed Christian agape fellowship loving kindness as Jesus did, in different ways towards men and women.

From what I have heard, one thing he was advocating was that soldiers should be allowed to have wives.

I hope it could bless you! This is something that God has been impressing on my heart lately. That only in Christ can we discover who we really are- our true identities.

Though, you are right. There is a lot of confusion, especially for young people, on this topic. So many other things in life try to pull our attentions away from our True Love. It's a struggle to fight the daily distractions in our world.

The story of St. Valentine is amazing and inspring. I pray that God would give me the strength to stand for Him even in the face of certain death like he did, if I was ever in a situation like that.
