I wonder why James brings up Elijah? Hmmmmmm? Maybe because he will return in the tribulation and cause it not to rain for 3 1/2 years? Just a coincidence, I’m sure.

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

Hmmmmmm?

Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:

Revelation 11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
(Mat 11:14) And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

Elijah has already come per Jesus. If you could wrap your head around that, all of these other issues about tribulation saints would disappear.

You responded to @dcontroversal ...he was the guy above.

It was "read his works" as well.

Interesting she did not have the nerve to use a name.

If I am wrong I will apologize but I doubt it.
I was responding to John , so not sure how the person was meaning DCon...

Anyway , I know what and who I meant :)...xox...

But they rejected Christ, so Elijah did not come.

@ John146

Amo 7:8 And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

The plumbline was Jesus, when he came the first time, God was done with the 12 tribes.

Amo 8:2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more

Same thing in Amos 8:2, when the summer fruit was gathered, God was done with the 12 tribes.

IF you are speaking of my post let me know please .. I said this
Yet who ever the above guy is, he is asking others to read his works and take notice of him..
The guy i was speaking of was a guy named john , John with some numbers after his name.. Yes some may think of the post as a slight. I do not to my thinking it is a simple fact . My reply was to this paragraph of @Rosemaryx post she was speaking about a guy named john wiht numbers after his name .
I dont know who said it earlier , it may of been John with the numbers attached to his name , but he said he only reads the bible and does not take notice of men , well I used to think like that , but we all need training from preachers , men of God , to help in our growth , not from false preachers like some I could mention on here , but from sound biblical men like yourself and other fine godly men on here , and a few of my sisters who have taught me a thing or two...
My remark was in agreement with @Rosemaryx

John the Baptize came in the spirit of Elijah...
John the baptist was Elijah according to Jesus. This is the Elijah that was to come before the day of the Lord.

Mat 11:14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

John the Baptize came in the spirit of Elijah...
Yep, in the spirit of Elijah. He was not Elijah. He could have fulfilled the prophecy concerning Elijah if Israel would have received their Messiah.

Where does the scripture go against what Jesus said?

Never said that exactly. I learn from others. But the scriptures always prevail.

Good to know because you stated the guy above and she had not responded to John.

Sorry for the confusion.
It helps if you use @ followed by the person's name...helps make it clear.

John the Baptist was Jesus cousin , but did he not come from the wilderness with spirit of Elijah ?...

I’m not following you.
You said:

Jesus said John the Baptist fulfilled the prophecy but apparently some other scripture makes you think that he didn't. I guess you're saying that in order for Elijah to come, Israel would have to recieve their messiah. That's what I'm asking, where is that found in scripture because it goes directly against what Jesus said.

Elijah the person is never coming back, Elijah the person was a foreshadow of John the Baptist.
I agree , but I thought he came in the spirit of Elijah , not sure how I got that , glad I never had to argue a point lol...
