Bush craft

I so want to hit the woods with my forage bag , and a bed roll.
Gather some wild greens, harvest a rabbit with my old 36 and cook it over a camp fire by the river.

But it's gun deer season right now and that means to many green horns in the woods with guns for me right now.

we, you and hub and myself have much in common, even at 'our' age - (72&71)
we are 'green from head to foot' since the '70's', ( with many 'physical challenges' in-between), -
Jesus has seen us through what most would/could never understand, accept) although we have had to
incorporate gas heat and electricity-'land phone' = no 'boob-tube' though), and since The Lord's timing
has caught up with us and made our lives a bit easier, you can only imagine what this has meant
in our daily lives!!!
as for now we are alone and in the wilderness awaiting His next instructions, but we are still productive
in sharing our Love-food-tolerance-forgiveness, etc...
for us, it's as good as it can be right now, for all of our Hope/Trust is in His Will for us at this time and especially,
because since all of our future lays upon His hands...

How many of y'all are into it, or any of the old life skill crafts.

I don't have any horses right now. I need to get my fences rebuilt before I get horses again. I was getting abused and neglected horses, getting them in shape and tuned up and moved on to families.

I've been looking at Thoroughbreds....hundreds off the track that just were not fast enough or got injured...two year olds perfectly healthy and breaking down at the track. I had a beautiful 17hh chestnut mare that was ok one day and the next she would have trouble getting up. very agreeable mare but you had to get upset when you saw what had been done to her.

I was doing part time 'free' work at a pro stable and I got too attached to a mare that was being rehabilitated. at first when I would go in her stall she was like 'whatever', but then one day she turned and looked straight at me with those gorgeous big brown eyes and we really clicked. wasn't couldn't pay the ridiculous price of 17 K they were asking....she had no injuries but was excelling in dressage...you could see from how she was put together that she was a natural

I also used to breed sport horses...Friesian crosses...going back some years now...back on our little farm.

I knew there was something that I really like about you.

Anyone that loves horses.

I would get them so skinny you could see their ribs in their hip bones and their shoulder bones moving under their skin when they walk. That would be so scared of a person they didn't know what to do, some of them would just kick or bite.
I would feed them up and get them fat, Exercise them getting ready to ride, and then ride them until they were confident and sassy again.
Every time I moved one out to someone else's family, it would be all I could do to not cry. Sometimes I did anyway.

some people should be tied to a tree in the middle of the woods with no water and food for about a week...should also be plenty of mosquitoes around...probably that would not even correct the way they treat animals though

I've rescued some dogs...but not horses...mine were already fat and sassy

yeah...I remember crying as my last brood mare (gorgeous Friesian cross) went down the road in a trailer...never mind I got decent $ for her. as big as she was, she moved like she had little wings on her feet.
