So I'm just recovering from two side by side panic attacks (my brain is my worst enemy at this point) my brain sabotages the few things that I still enjoy in life God, Games (usually both at the sametime) I'm also weary about who I talk to here and other places. (I try to stay away from the ultra fundamentalist type as I buy into there emotionally charged jargon) I try not too as it makes me paranoid of literally everything and I'm out of problems it recalls older ones and brings them to the surface. It's an endless circle of anxious feelings.

How long have you been having panic attacks? I have suffered in the past so I know exactly how you feel x

About a decade. I'm Autistic so I've had anxiety and OCD my whole life but in the past decade its turned into psychosis

That sucks. I guess you are receiving treatment of some kind? I,m not autistic so I have no idea what dealing with anxiety is like for an autistic person. But I do know about the energy of anxiety. It becomes a trap with an endless search for a solution. I got into quite a mess with it. I became afraid of the state I was in. Afraid of when the next attack would occur. You become afraid of being afraid....that is the trap! If I could recommend the work of Dr. Claire Weekes? She has the best understanding of anyone I know of nervous illness, in my opinion. I,m basically free now of the over sensitized reactions and it is in no small part due to her writings.

Thanks I may look into it. I just got back from a stay at a partial in patient program and I have loads into ones that help with scruples

I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I suffer from anxiety as well and have medication to take if I catch it just as the onset occurs. There's days that I wake up knowing that I'm going to have one and then I'm just paranoid from that point on that any little thing will be THAT THING that sets it off. Sending prayers your way to calm your anxious mind.

I was going to start a thread on this but I'll just lay it here for those whom it might help like yourself, OP. If it helps to know, I do understand what you are experiencing and I think this may help you as it as helped me.

The Jesus Prayer as Psychotherapy

As medicine, the Jesus Prayer is destructive of the passions and altering of conduct. Just as a doctor places a dressing on a patient's wound, and the dressing works without the patient's knowing how, calling on the Name of God "removes the passions" without our knowing how and why, according to Barsanupius and John. The Holy Name, when repeated quietly, penetrates the soul rather like a drop of oil, spreading out and impregnating a cloth. Our modern translation of "mercy" is limited and insufficient. "Mercy" comes from the Greek eleison. Eleison has the same root as elaion which means olive and olive oil. In the Middle East, olive oil provides physical healing for many sicknesses, particularly respiratory. "Have mercy" means to have "healing oil" on my soul. The Fathers tell us that praying the Sacred Name changes our personality, from overstrain to joy. "Hitherto you have asked nothing in my Name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full" (Jn 16:24). The Jesus Prayer functions as therapy, much like healing oil, transforming our personality from overstrain to joy, and by continuing to pray, these changes become permanent.

I'm doing better now, anxiety pops up from time to time, instead of regularly. But I used to have panic attacks as well. And knew a few others that did.
It's a rough thing to deal with, and many don't understand. But as you can see plenty here respond that have gone through it, or still are. Perhaps keep track of those people so you know who can relate and not make things worse.

The irony is that "knowing" is half of the cause it happens. I've been the same way. You expecting it puts you in the mindset of having an attack. It's tough knowing that and still not able to change it.

Kojikun, I have read the books by Claire Weekes as Dibby53 had suggested and she helps to reduce fear of anxiety. Her books are worth a read but I think they may be out of print but I think you can still get them somehow on the internet.
She has helped thousands reduce their fears and anxieties.

She has helped thousands reduce their fears and anxieties.
Although she died in 1990 there are some youtube clips of her recordings and an interview. X

Oh I didn't know that. I will have to look it up. I didn't know she was an Aussie. I'm not sure whether she was a christian or not?
