I am currently building a series to teach about the Armor of God to a group in my local church.

I would greatly appreciate any resources or references to anything related to this topic. I have 4 weeks to put all my thoughts and research down in a organized lesson.

A couple points migo.....

a. The analogy in Ephesians 6 mirrors a Roman suit of armor which would be fully understood during the time it was penned.

b. One thing it does not list is SOMETHING to protect the back.

Why? Because.....If a Roman soldier broke rank to run he was to be cut down by the other Roman soldiers within his element......The reason Paul dia inspiration has no protection for the back is because WE ARE TO HOLD OUR GROUND.......

Just a few points to ponder

Don't overlook the weapon of prayer. It's the 'air cover' and is both offensive and defensive.

Thank you. A good reminder.

Do you know what formation they fought in considering the use of the shield. I have seen the line formation but also triangle, circle, or other a type of double to triple line formation as each shield protects the front, front angle, and then the third row shields from above.

Yes I have a few but did you have 1 or 2 that really made a impact in the understanding of spiritual warfare?

Not sure if this helps or even if it interests you but Joshua 1:9 and Psalm 3 may go nicely regarding the Armor of God because it pertains to trust and empowerment. Psalm 3:6 is one of my favorite verses in the entire Bible.

I have 1 book from Dr. David Jeremiah, Spiritual Warfare, terms of engagement. He breaks down the armor of God in details, I hope it helps, don't know if pdfdrive have it.

Additional insights: we don't have protection for the back because generally Christians (as we are) we should stand back to back with our fellow, protecting one another in battle and in reality spiritually and physically we are accountable for each other.

Also ... don't forget to include Eph 6:10 ... Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might then put on the armor of God.

And notice we are told to put on the armor that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (vs. 11), to withstand in the evil day and stand (vs. 13).

And once we have on the armor of God, we are to pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watch with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (vs. 18).

Hope and pray all goes well with your study and your presentation of this wonderful nugget of truth in God's Word. Such a good lesson!!!

Renember the BATTLE is over our FAITH. If we lose our faith, we lose our life.

FOCUS ON FAITH - the armor is to protect our FAITH in Christ. The Shield is our FAITH protecting our souls.

The Sword which is the Word of God is our ONLY weapon....do we know how to use it correctly? FAITH comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God...

Are we slicing and dicing each other (friendly fire) or are we cutting the head off of our enemy - like David did with Goliath......

When you teach the Armor of God, you MUST teach the FAITH of God.

@Roughsoul1991, you are wise beyond your years...... how do I know? Because you have asked for the input of others before you seek to teach an unknown to you.

You are not a “rough” soul, you are a “brave” soul...... because you know God is with you, amen.(y)

Thank you for the info and kind words. I am getting a lot of good info which makes it easy to now just write and come up with a structure. I love anything for visual learning so I may do a PowerPoint with discussion topics.
