Hello, hello everyone! I own pets, and now I have a new one. I did my research on birds about extra large flight cages, the importance of diets (fresh food with TOPs brand or BirdtTricks recommendations are the best), I've learned hormones cause birds to be crazy, and I've watched lots of the YouTube channel called BirdTricks (professional bird behaviorists). I've already owned parakeets (budgies), but now I've finally bought a baby cockatiel....
My new baby friend will need a name!
Since most of you might not be bird people, here is some added information about the bird...
It is a DNA tested Male, and his colors are called cinnamon and white, his patterns are called pied (the white areas without color), and pearl (the patterns on his wings). Because it is a Male, HE WILL NOT KEEP THE PATTERNS ON HIS WINGS, the adult feathers will likely become a solid cinnamon color. Overall, the bird is probably going to become more cinnamon and less white, so it's better to not name him after the patterns on his wings, nor all his white coloring, as he might not be keeping his current appearance as he gets older.
(To anyone who does know birds, his mother was a white face cinnamon pearl, his father was a white face pied, and all of his siblings are white face, pearl, pieds. When it comes to his possible changing appearance, he may or may not be stronger in the pearl genes or stronger in the pied genes, his breeders are saying no one will know until after his molts.)
Here are pictures of my baby boy, who is still at the breeders....
The First time I met him! <3
A little bit older here, he wanted a nap, but he wasn't sure about this thing called a "camera". lol.
Yeah... he's not going to keep all the white, but the changes to come, nobody knows.
Cockatiels love shoulders and being on top of heads, luckily he has not found the top of my head yet.
(Disclaimer: NEVER buy an animal without doing lots of research on proper habitats, diets, understanding that pets are expensive, and they are not toys. Pets are cute but they require having needs met, when needs aren't met, it is called neglect. If you want cute without responsibilities, try decorative or cute stuffed animals, or nintendogs, . Thank You.)
