Severe Dressing Down

No, we're not talking about castigation. It's a pun title for a thread about what clothes you wear.

What do you prefer to wear? Do you like bright colors? Neutral colors? Whites? Do you pull an Ian Malcolm and wear all black and grey?

Are there any social criteria that determine how you dress? Does your profession or gender require you to dress a certain way in your culture?

What about age? Somebody I know said the following:
Does this happen where you live? Does your culture expect people above OR below a certain age to dress a certain way that is different from people on the other side of that age line?

What would you wear if you didn't have to meet any social criteria for dress? Would you wear jeans, t-shirt and flip-flops all the time? Well... as long as it wasn't too cold for it anyway. Would you dress up just because you like to?

For myself I go with jeans and a t-shirt if I'm at home or running around town. If I go to church I wear something better than blue jeans.

As a minister in the South, I have to meet certain standards: I have to wear a tie. I do NOT understand this and I don't really like ties. But I am only expected and required to wear a tie when I'm preaching. If I'm singing onstage or sitting in the congregation or any other time in or out of church, the tie standard does not apply.

No it ain't in the bible. But people around here get kind of upset if the preacher ain't wearing a tie.

I’ve until just recently been rather casually dressed, but I’ve now discovered that there’s something called makeup and that feminine outfits exists too, in addition to uniforms...lol🤗😁😊.

Jeans and T-shirt for me too. I have been known to wear a suit and tie on special rare occasions and also when attending church service, which lately has been seriously lacking due to my work schedule.

The last uniform I wore was in Jan 1983 when my service with the US Army ended. I liked the ribbons, especially the expert rifle medal. Didn't do as well with the hand-grenades. Reminds me of the saying, close only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades and all is fair in love and war.

Jeans don't fit very well anymore so it's usually nice forgiving cotton pants (sweats that don't look like sweats in cooler weather and lighter weight ones in the summer) and a t-shirt or polo shirt. Most of my pants are black or navy and the color (cool colors mainly blues, greens, and purples or some neutrals) comes in with the tops. I like being comfy.

I'm not a 'jeans and t-shirt' person in public, but am at home. I'll wear jeans with a collared shirt if I'm going anywhere. At work I'm usually a bit more formal, as in chinos and a dress shirt. Even there, we have an unwritten freedom to dress more casually on Fridays.

Spandex leggings are the best!

During the summer it is sun dresses all season long. They are so comfortable. In the winter it is boots, leggings and sweaters or longer v neck shirts. I don't like jeans too much so yoga type pants (with adequate coverage) work for casual days.

I wear dresses all the time ,summer dresses or winter dresses .In winter i like heel boots with a dress and a long feminine coat and a scarf.I love all colors .I wear pants with a t-shirt and sneakers when i go for walks

I wear skirts and tops all the time. Except to lounge around the house in.

I think this has to do with the unpleasant fact that I now qualify as an old hag, and no longer a young, blonde woman 👱‍♀️ haha haha.

many, many, times -

some prophets wore rough and hairy skins - Isaiah went naked preaching -
as for hub and myself, we dress for comfort only...BUT, IF God requires us to dress differently,
we 'most certainly-will'...

So, If you (Lynx) were to pull an Isaiah you'd be ok as long as you had a tie on..........................................right?

First, I'm a young lady. Most of the time my general outfit is a cami to help be less revealing with a nice blouse over top, a pair of darker-wash jeans, and black socks and black shoes.

I like to have my own style, but I loosely try to base my dress preferences on Respecting God. God is the one who doesn't want girls or woman to be flaunting their bodies to the world, and doesn't want women to lead men into lust even if by accident. Men face a difficult world to not lust in, I don't want to lead them to stumble if I can help things from my side, even if it's only a little bit.

I am also personally uncomfortable with outfits that are too revealing. I value being modest and reserved, both for My God and for myself.

When I dress to my liking, I like to dress to what I think is modest but also flattering, such as hiding my chest and not wearing things that emphasis my plus-size figure, but instead I try to wear styles that have complimenting cuts, colors, or patterns.

I personally feel it is good to dress better on days or special occasions that are dedicated to God such as church or holidays, as another form of finding where and how I can respect my God, HOWEVER just because I feel it is good to dress to respect doesn't mean I actually succeed at it during those times. I have limited money and often am behind on laundry due to a wonky laundry set-up, so I often can't divide nicer clothes and pick and choose as well as I'd like.

I don't think people are sinning because they don't dress nice, God came for the poor after all. But I do think it's a nice thing to dress for the Glory of the Lord with a personal attempt to respect or have dedication.

For work, I have to dress-up (dress pants/blouse, skirts, dresses etc.), except for Friday. If you a pay $1 you can wear jeans and a blouse or dressy shirt.

At home, I like to go for comfort. Jeans and a t-shirt/sweatshirt is common. Typically if I come home from school and I know for certain I'm not going anywhere and nobody is coming over, I will just put on my sweatpants and or PJs. I love pajamas at home.

I'm the anonymous friend who just turned 30.
I just went through my jewelry box recently and got rid of a lot of my Claires stuff. I kept some of my graphic tshirts.
I love to wear shorts as it can get very hot here. When it's cold (two weeks maybe) I wear pants. When I'm at work, I have to wear pants obviously but as soon as I get home I change to shorts.

Wait, you have to pay a dollar to participate in casual Friday? One, that sounds like a scam. Two, to whom is that money going?

And yes, sweatpants rock.
