It seems to me that most people have not studied angels, and many are assuming what angels are rather than simply accepting the Lord's words in plain simple English. I read that "what scripture really says", and scripture is straight forward and says what it means.

If you put all that is written about angels in all ancient writings, then go to only accepted scripture to check to see if it is true this is what you find and it checks out.

There are three classes of angels and they are angels, not gods in any way. There were six archangels but when a third of heaven rebelled only four were left: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel. The archangel of light became Satan when he rebelled.

The Seraphim and angels of fire and are messengers of God. Jacob's ladder is referring to them as they go back and forth between us and heaven. The third class is Teraphim and they are referred to in our scripture when scripture speaks of angels appearing as men as in Hebrews 13:2 saying angels can appear as men and in reports of men actually being angels and in Gen. 18:2 when Abraham saw three men who were angels. The Teraphim are called watchers in scripture.
I assume you get these ideas from outside Scripture? Scripture only mentions one archangel, Michael (Jude 9). The only other place the word archangel is used it is in the singular - I Thess. 4:16. Nowhere is Satan called an archangel. To suggest there is more than one archangel or that Satan is an archangel is outside of Biblical revelation: which makes it pure conjecture!

I thought it was clear that there were 3 archangels before the Fall? Michael, Gabriel and Lucifer?

Gabriel is never called an archangel, and Lucifer was a Cherub. Michael is the only one designated as an archangel in the Bible. The book of Enoch does give us many other names and designations, but that's not an inspired book.

Not messengers appearing as men but actual men who bring the gospel as messengers . How beautiful are their feet.

This would include the Son of man, Jesus .In the last day God brought his messages or spoke through Him . The high apostle (sent of the father) as chief messenger, Jesus.

Why all the difficulty with fleshly messengers as sons of God ? How would that affect the gospel ?

Teraphim are household idols, not angels, and not watchers.

Exactly!

Ezekiel 28:14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones.

See posts 83 and 86 for a Biblical answer. I thought the same as you till I looked at what the Bible actually said.
