Sometimes in thought, I talk to God giving him thanks and asking him for help and guidance in life. I also try to think about God at times, not talking exactly in thought but just wanting to know more about who he is.
Sometimes I get worried about whether I'm thinking of God right, and I worry that I don't stay with him along enough.
My mind gets distracted easily and I focus on other things, but I feel so bad being away from for too long, which is why I feel bad being away from him for just a moment and regret time spent without him. What should I do?

What should you do? Be grateful, praise Him for what He has done for you out of His great love for us, and learn to be kind to yourself, knowing He knows all there is to know about you, all your failings and reasons why... ask to know His will for your life, and to give you the power and strength to carry it out.

Thank you for replying to me! I'll keep leaning on God in life, relying on myself or focusing on possibility of failure just hurts... it feels way better to keep asking God

He knows you...more than you know yourself. Don't beat yourself up over getting distracted unless you are getting distracted by something within your control.

I have the image of a dog in mind at present so maybe that may be of use to you. Specifically the nature of how a dog interacts with their owner on walks. Our dog gets distracted by smells frequently...I used to get angry at it, but have come to accept it as part of how the dog is. I sometimes forget when she jerks my arm randomly that she is smelling something, I find this annoying most often and force her along. How much more does the Lord know how the creature operates and why it does what it does?

So I'm not saying he views us as dogs (wrong forum ;) ) but that I don't think he takes it personally or gets offended as we mature in our "walk". Imagine the difference between a puppy and a mature dog and an old dog. We are all growing in our relationship..

Now of course there are times we are "being bad" and need discipline and correction but he will effect that, don't worry about punishing yourself.

Taking delight in his creation is spending time with him. His invisible attributes are seen in creation (that is in scripture btw) so that's always a good place to start. Get distracted by a bee? That's ok, tis his bee. He knew you'd get distracted by that. Enjoy the bee. You see?

I get distracted all the time, he is patient. Good thing too! Focus is a lifelong discipline.
