It Will Guard Your Hearts And Minds Through Christ,

We don't need to know everything about God
to have peace and faith. Scripture puts faith
above knowledge all through scripture. Of
course knowledge is wonderful in life and many
things including God. But we don't put knowledge
above faith and we don't put learning above His
power of love. Scripture says: be anxious about
nothing but everything with prayer and supplication.
Being holy in God is what is best to strive for since
if His love is deep within our hearts, our lives are
totally devoted to Him. After all, what is knowledge
without faith. As I see it those can collide at times.

“2 Grace and Peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord (this is both Sanctifying Grace and Sanctifying Peace, all made available by the Cross),

3 According as His Divine Power has given unto us all things (the Lord with large-handed generosity has given us all things) that pertain unto life and godliness (pertains to the fact that the Lord Jesus has given us everything we need regarding life and living), through the knowledge of Him Who has called us to Glory and Virtue (the “knowledge” addressed here speaks of what Christ did at the Cross, which alone can provide “Glory and Virtue”):

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and Precious Promises (pertains to the Word of God, which alone holds the answer to every life problem): that by these (Promises) you might be partakers of the Divine Nature (the Divine Nature implanted in the inner being of the believing sinner becomes the source of our new life and actions; it comes to everyone at the moment of being “Born-Again”), having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (This presents the Salvation experience of the experience of the sinner, and the Sanctification experience of the Saint.)” 2 Peter 2:4

Knowledge alone will only puff us up, we need to strike a balance between knowledge and spirituality. DustyRhodes is right: we don't need to know everything about God to have peace and faith.

My denomination puts faith and love above knowledge. I fellowship with people who can barely read and yet they live holy lives. They don't trust in themselves, but rather in God almighty.

According to 2 Peter 1:2-4, all of the Precious Promises of God are added through the knowledge of what Christ did at the Cross of Calvary where the victory was won. Therefore, the Believer Faith must be placed and maintained exclusively in Christ and the Cross of Calvary where the victory was won to receive Grace from God. Romans 8:2

You're right! This is an important piece of knowledge.

2 Peter 1 New International Version (NIV)

1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:

2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,

11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I agree 100%. I remember talking with my Spiritual mentor once and I said I do not need to understand, and I was told yes we do. I shut up and listened because of my respect, but I still do not agree.

I do not understand how God can stept out of heaven as a man but still be God doing His god stuff and still fulfilling Scripture as 100% Man and 100 %, while still being God in heaven....

I do not understand how there is ONLY ONE GOD expressed in three persons,.... Yet I only have One God.... God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are ONE GOD NOT THREE!!!!

I honestly don't understand how He LOVES little 'ol me.... I matter soooo much to Him that He made me a son of God thru Grace (Salvation).

Yet, my mentor is right He has given me ears to hear and eyes to see, that I understand His Word and it is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. And He allows me to know Him, in whom I have believed.

No Sir doesn’t appear to be anything you had written, though I was wondering what the poster meant with the numbers

As a new believer, in 1986, I was not absolutely sure if my denomination was preaching the true Gospel and I thought it would be nice to hear the opinion of experts in the field. Back then there was no Google so I went to the Christian Research Institute in downtown São Paulo.

When I told the receptionist that I was a member of the Christian Congregation she looked at me as if I were the most despicable creature on Earth. Then she called one of their experts and while the guy was still approaching me he started his attack: "you guys baptize people with very little or no knowledge of the Bible; you have no Sunday School; your preachers don't go to college; bla bla bla".

Then another arrogant "expert" came and told me: "I am fluent both in Greek and in Hebrew". A few minutes later a pastor came and looked down on me in contempt. Not one of them treated me with Christian love and they were all people who knew the Bible from cover to cover, backwards and forwards.

I went to CRI because I think it's important to hear opposing opinions, but in a friendly an honest atmosphere. All they did was to reinforce what I had learned in my church: Knowledge alone can only puff us up.

I love to learn, but I don't see any reason to be proud of the little knowledge I have. A small USB flash drive can store millions of times more information than my big head.

MOTC always quotes his Jimmy Swaggart book. Jimmy Swaggart published a Bible where he inserted his own commentary in bright bold red letters all over in the middle of the scripture so that you can hardly see what the actual text is.

Yeah, you can hardly even tell its a Bible. Many of us would really like MOTC to stop doing that, but he doesn't care.

Huh I didnt know ol Jimmy had a book, bold comment in the middle seems odd to do, I’ll have to check it out for the amusement of it.

You know how they'll print the Bible with Jesus's words in red?
That's how Jimmy printed his, only his are the words in red, and Christ's aren't.
