There are many reasons why some do not go to Church, like looking after elderly relatives so are unable, or working to pay their way without choice, etc.
But wanting to go is something else. I can give you a few examples of those in my lifetime who have given accounts of why they do not want to go to Church (anymore). But I am in England not the USA which is very different and other countries may have much larger fellowships.
1. One person I know said that the Pastor upset him so much on his first visit when he gave a sermon on how "Anyone who is brought up in a house without love has no chance."
He never went back nor will. Whatever you believe, it is not nice to hear anyone say that person has no chance and hardly encouraging.
2. One person I know, said there were too many ceremonials, long drawn out reading of passages of the Scripture without explanation, or it didn't make them "feel" like they were close to God in that place. Some even said they didn't recognise the Hymns.
3. One person I know said that they didn't like the Pastor because what they preach isn't in the Scriptures but his own interpretation of it.
4. One person I know said that all the Churches they had attended in search of the right fellowship were no more than a "social club" on Sundays and were made up mostly in their Church of those who just wanted to get to the pub afterwards and have a drink.
5. One person I know said that her Atheist Mother told her "Join a Church" if you are lonely to meet people - when she told her she was lonely after moving to a new city. She did actually and became a Christian (interestingly)...
6. Another who was Catholic, never went back to a Church she had attended for many years as the Priest had "been detained at Her Majesty's Pleasure" lets say.
(Lets also say and keep in mind here that, "A bad example isn't a good example".)
7. I have heard some say that "the Pastor just droans on, its boring and they don't learn anything or feel anything when they are there. Another sad one.
8. Some say they go to many and are still looking for the right fellowship. They say they get a feel for the fellowship they are in by heart feeling (or gut feeling which some believe is connected to the heart) as soon as they walk in, in much the same way as one does when they walk into a house (they either get a real good feeling about it or they don't)
9. Some say that the Pastor has told them personally that none of the people that attend his Church have ever studied the Word of God and just rely on his Word so are not really interested. They go by the "why read when you can listen?" method.
10. Some say they do not like the new "happy clappy" versions of Christian Worship - all rock music and dancing about. Some like this and some do not.
I personally think it is very hard for Church Leaders or any Leaders or those in authority. We should pray for them as it must be a very disheartening sometimes for them. I know some lovely Pastors and their work is hard. We should pray for them indeed.
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
I am not quoting Donald Trump by the way....I am quoting 1 Timothy 2:1-5 kjv
There are many I can list for reasons people WANT to go to Church which are far more positive, but you did ask reasons "why some do not WANT" to go to Church and here are a few I know of personally. In England anyhow. Most of the best fellowships I know are based around Scripture and Bible Study and asking the right questions. These are mostly the Little and Good ones and are small in nature and simple in their structure.
